Might also be a good idea now for europe to take down old nuclear plants, instead of building new ones... Even if Putin is brought down, a new madman can rise again elsewhere...

most countries been going away from nuclear power for said reasons since a while , Germany for example

other reason is how expensive they are france nuclear agency/corporation went bankrupt few years ago due how expensive its to decomission old plants , and since plutonium is not used for almost anything exept few RTG's and nasa its weaste product noone uses. in cold war plutonium was very desired and valuable.

this is mostly foult of inflation , as 2 bilion decomisioning cost for nuclear plant today , going to be 5-10 bilion in 30-40 years when you actualy , decomission it , also expensive to construct

Yeah, Germany is a good example and nuclear energy was in decline in general, but the problem is that the EU kinda greenwashed it now for investors (together with gas) and managed to push that through, thanks to Macron, due to France getting most of its energy out of their nuclear power plants and Macron wants to play it safe for the next election.

And honestly my fear here is, that while it was in decline as you said, the new taxonomy will get investors back to nuclear power and away from real sustainable energy forms.

it does not matter if its green , yellow or red , coal industry kills millions people every year and noone bats an eye(rich people)
problem with nuclear power its ridicule sly expensive investment , if you make coal , fuel or other plants you can reap profits really quickly , with nuclear powerplant you wont see profits for atleast 15 to 20 years , paired up that you need a load(who you need to pay back) and inflation its very risky investment

if something happens along way like it happened in france , you go bankrupt

nuclear power is vialable if its entirely subsidied by goverment , and even then its very fragile balance as you need to buy uranium , store it safely and weaste , not to say its prime target for terrorism or invasion and big weakness
