Species Trending: Sharks?

Special notice:
First off, in most anthro/furry circles aquatic species tend to be "off over there"! Fish, Whales, aquatic birds, Seals, even Otters are just not as common as even many of the more obscure land creatures, mammals reptiles, Birds, among others. Insects are still pretty unheard of.
But this is about sharks... one of the most ancient species on Earth. So perfectly evolved to their role in nature that they have not had to evolve, aside from size or variation in 100s of millions of years. So perfectly evolved they are actually prey to more recent, more flexible and adaptable species, like Orca and Humans. Even so, they are seen as frightful creatures, openly misunderstood as ravening unthinking killing and eating machines. Sharks are weirdly OVER specialized with a myriad of faults and weaknesses. But despite this Sharks are seen through the lens of "the rule of cool".
The Shark's sleek, girthy, bodies give that air of sheer physical power, which is not lacking in real life. The creepy blacked out eyes that tend to look dead even with a healthy specimen. Their uncanny ability to detect anything with a electrical presence, as if using a Dolphin's echo location. Their skin and teeth are literally the same shape, texture, but size notwithstanding. Shark's were just perfectly made to be cool on a number of different levels.
So efforts at anthropomorphic sharks would include, inevitably, the "Street Sharks", a cartoon and toy series from the 1990s in the same vein as the Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles. They were a group of teenaged Football playing boys. Once mutated they had where significantly monstrously bulked up with the hulking features of sharks. The result were some very hulking, not too cool looking beast men with razor sharp teeth and even for a 90s kid very grating personalities. Of course, the writing was weaker than the typical 90s cartoon as well... But that was just me, I hope.
As it is this is one version of anthro sharks. This does bypass but not ignore mermaids who are half shark, as sharks are in fact fish. But that is discussion of a differing nature. Maybe when I finally get to fantasy creatures.
What is of greater interest is Anthro sharks with EARS. Often somewhere between those of canids and the fins of sharks, these ears, on the top of the head often seem more like canine ears. I have no idea where this came from and any outside input on the subject would be welcome.
As it stands, these anthro sharks with ears seem more like aquatically adapted canine anthros. I have to admit I do not know much enough to really discuss this one. But this particular anthro seems more a unique species all its own, like Synx, Protogen, and Sergals. I won't include my own species in that. Just those that are fairly widely spread and known through the fandom. These Eared Sharks look to be a fourth species.
Anyway, Red Panda because of that one movie next...

Whether people accept this as an explanation is entirely up to them to choose. But design wise it fits better and balances out design aesthetically.
