Wars rage on. Acts of evil abound. The next plague is boiling somewhere. And...
You better buy spare Blu-Ray and UHD Players. The major manufactures, including LG, Samsung, an SONY, are ending production of these devices. If you have a collection of beloved movies and shows on Disc, get you spare players because there is no guarantee you may get a replacement player if you need one. Remember the one you have was made to be replaced not last forever and a day like early generation VCRs were.
Oh, and Happy 2025. I should probably wait 30 days to see how thing really shake out.

In fact Panasonic recently released the UB450 model in the states which is a fantastic value.
Still I would hope Disc players do not just up and leave the market. The discs are not going to simply go away. I have DVDs pushing 20+ years old and CDs pushing 40+ years old.
My hope is that 4K UHD becomes like the vinyl of movies and sticks around for decades even if an 8K disc format never happens.
A collector's market and expensive, but still around for those with passion for it. We've seen boutique labels and studios making moves towards that, like for example Lionsgate just started their own label for premium physical movies.
As long as there's a decent chunk of money to be made in it, I think the studios will keep going.
