My mom visited one of my uncles today and he managed to infect her with a conspiracy theory. My mom believes now that Putin is actually a victim, that he was forced to wage war by America and the people up there. Aka your standard conspiracy theorist group that's behind everything, controlling the world. What comes next? America forces Putin to oppress Russians? Censor the media, imprison people for having a different opinion and assassinate critics all goes on America's account? And why? Because America wants all of Europe and doesn't want the Nordstream 2 pipeline to be built.

Excuse me? America already "owns" all of Europe thanks to WW2. As much as the actual country is a laughing stock and behind the world in many ways the dollar is still the currency and many cultures across the world adopt American interpretations. I get being anti-America but trying to blame them for the actions of every asshole in this world is ridiculous. Putin grew up in the USSR and worked for the KGB and was always known for being cold and dangerous. People are dying and suffering right now, or are leaving behind their entire life they had built in exchange for safety. Russian troops are marching through Ukraine, as we know plenty didn't know the details of their depoyment and refuse to fight. Russians are being drafted into war against their will. The Russian populus who didn't want this war face economical devastation and imprisonment for being against the war or supporting Ukrainians.

My uncles's proof? American convois. Ya no shit, there are plenty convois rushing towards the Ukranian border to evacuate people; Red Cross, military, civilian. Even I sent an email to the Red Cross, asking to volunteer. I too would rush to the border to help if I could, not because I am one of them up there and want America to rule the world but rather because the people need help.

Did I also mention my uncle is part of a sect?

I know the best way to help someone see through a conspiracy theory is to talk one on one with them in an inquisitive manner so they realize they actually don't know anything but I still feel the need to vent. My mom is a good woman but she's old and easily impressionable.

I don't know where my uncle stands but one thing is for certain; I do not tolerate marking Putin a victim. Putin is a narcissistic, cold blooded, merciless, nationalist predator who made moves onto the Krim region and Ukraine multiple times. I support my Ukranian brothers and sisters, as well as all Russians who oppose this war. I will not support misinformation.
