Paulina (alt.: Mütze, Pau Pau, Stinker, Flöte), my fuzzy little sister 15 years of age, passed away 1.5 hours ago, peacefully, after suffering the last few days.

The last few months she had trouble breathing but seemed entirely healthy otherwise, even the vet we took her to was unable to diagnose her and simply gave her antibiotics in case she had an infection after which her condition improved dramatically. Until Wednesday. She collapsed and from there on was visibly in pain and unwilling to get up unless absolutely necessary. No vets were open on Wednesday and Thursday was a holiday, so no one to bring her to. This morning at 9 we called a different vet due to their special equipment and got an appointment for 11.30.

The x-ray confirmed her lung to be bloated with water, to the point of being almost not visible, with her heart entirely obscured. There was nothing anymore to be done for her aside from an oxygen mask and a peaceful death instead of pain and eventual suffocation.

Paulina fought until the very end to stay with us and we stayed with her until the end.
