Addressing the Deer Mount
So, I’ve been noticing some folks who are talking about the deer head mount in the background of my fursuit photo, here’s the link to that if anyone’s interested: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/46338590/
I’m going to start off by saying that, yes, I am a hunter. So is my dad, but I want to stress one important fact.
I exclusively hunt birds, not deer. My dad is the deer hunter.
Here’s why.
1. I genuinely dislike hunting deer because I have a genuine personal connection with these animals. The amount of close encounters I’ve had with these beautiful animals make them incredibly important to me, so I find it difficult to think of hunting them. Even though I hunt birds, yes. Take that as you will.
2. Even if I did try to hunt them, the pressure of trying to kill them quickly and painlessly is just too much. With an animal as big as a deer, the chances of injuring the deer as opposed to actually killing them just breaks my heart, I can’t do it. Since birds are smaller, the chances of eliminating potential suffering is much greater.
3. It’s actually incredibly hard to hunt deer. Even if I did get the chance to have plenty of food, I haven’t seen a deer once on the few deer hunting outings I had with my dad. To hunt a deer is simply too difficult and time consuming for me, bird hunting is significantly different than deer hunting.
So, there you have it. I have my own opinions on hunting in general, but I’d rather have the discussion here rather than on the photo itself, if it can be helped.
I hope this is at least helpful with clarifying some things, I’m not going to apologize for something I believe can be enjoyed with respect and dignity. Nor will I lie to anyone, I know people aren’t stupid and I’m not going to treat anyone that way.

I respect the right of people to hunt for food. Hunting also helps prevent animal overpopulation.
