I escaped Russia one month before war started. It was a long, one-year fight for this single travel. My mom is still stuck there. She lives close to Ukraine. She tries to act like she is alright, but…
I am sharing this post because I want to support this person, although I don’t know them, but also, there was one phrase they said that made me stumble —
“It’s one endless February 24th”
This is exactly what my mom said to me a couple of days ago. And then, she said it again, yesterday. No emotion in her voice — just emptiness.
Russian government is the aggressor, yes. They are hated by everyone. But don’t let anyone, including yourself, hate Russians. At least those, who never chose our president, which is actually at least 60% of our population, and yet he is still there, thanks to corruption.
My family members have severe health problems. Now Russian people can’t get medications they need, people can’t afford food and rent, people are scared, because they are punished for every piece of truth.
Yes, this is not being attacked directly. Still, their lives are destroyed as much.
It is terrifying. War is a grief for every side.

Unfortunately it will barely affect the ones who actually started the war because they will just take whatever they need without caring about the people...
although, as I believe, it's not really sanctions -- it is about transportation problems. No one would punish people with medicine sanctions. It would be inhumanly cruel.
My grand mother has her meds for 3 next months. What's going to happen after that... I don't know.
