It is...but the power does not work on the desktop.

when you get a workable machine, there should be a way to hook up the old drive to one of the external ports. most likely USB. should at least cut down some of the re-works, if nothing else. and if the failure is the power... sounds like eitehr A) the power cable to the wall outlet, or B) disconnected internal circuits. given that "unplug it and plug it back in" is usually the first trouble-shooting solution, i'd bet on option B. there is also a slight chance the button is broken and nothing else is wrong...

Well I have done the plug in and out method but that has not worked. Honesly the comp is over 15 years old

that still leaves either broken circuits or a button come loose or something like that. and your conclusion, given computer's age, would be "just get a new one." honestly i don't really understand desktops, i've only ever had space for a laptop. and my laptops have been 2-in-1's since i left high school. that said... if you have around $1k USD lying around, my HP Spectre x360 right now has worked quite well for me so far. the 2020 model. Intel i7 10th Gen, with NVidia GeForce graphics and 16GB RAM. wish i had one to donate, but all mine are either broken themselves (usually the screens from dropping them one too many times), or given to others already.

Well thankfully a friend will be helping me out as it seems. Using a slightly older Gaming model and will do a data dump on my old hard drive so I don't loose anything with a few perks to go with it!

Agreed. Art is more of my side gig than a job. But I do wanna get back into doing art and doing some overdue commissions.

What part has died? It could be as simple as getting a new PSU, those are relatively cheap thankfully.

Like it won't power on. Likely the power unit. My computer is an old Acer Aspire.
