A little gloomy..

Today is the last saturday/weekend shift at my job.. im tired. Im drained. I don't want to be here. Im the only housekeeper for one building complex, we lost 5 people due to the vaccine mandate so we were a skeleton crew before, today we are mere ghost crew. So I'm already miserable.. when I notice in the breakroom between two soda machines.. a poor dead mouse.. that looks like its asleep. I ask my boss and he has nothing to say, we never dealt with dead "rodents" before.. i call the operator and after having me on hold.. i was told to out it in the garbage. This didnt.. feel right to me. Just seeing how it appears so simple, so quiet like its sleeping with its eye closed.. rigamortis already set in on the poor thing.. i felt so bad.. i scooped it up into a bag (didnt let it touch my hands) and took him outside to a field humans dont go in.. ans laid him to rest. I had no shovels.. nothing to bury it.. I felt so bad. I still feel awful and just... sad. I know to some.. its just a rodent.. something that causes annoyance and problems. To me it was a small little mouse looking for food and warmth in a most dismal place. It could of got trapped and put outside.. instead of the result of today.
I mourn its unfortunate end, but I'm 2% glad that I atleast made sure it didnt just get thrown out like spoiled food.
