Landlords got greedy so I decided it was time to get a house. I have previously owned a house, but it was over a hundred years old and had problems associated with its age.

Shortly before making an offer, or deciding to move out, I signed a year lease with the management, but the lease doesn't begin till june. My closing date for the house is May 5th and I tried to return the lease or ask them to cancel, because its not active, in my opinion it seems sensible to simply part company and be done with. But no, the landlords want to hold me responsible for the lease and rent even though I'm moving ut before it begins.

The apartment is in Portage, Wisconsin. If anyone is interested in moving in and taking over the lease, that's my only option for getting out of this mess.
