Best I could ever do regarding stories here was to put the entire thing in the description box alongside uploading it as an odt file. This way you can explain the contents of the story prior to the actual beginning of it.

Unfortunately, around the 10k word mark is where the description box caps out, so if the story is longer, best to just explain that up front and let people know to download it.

Honestly it just sounds like way too much work

It’s a pain for sure. With all the infrastructure updates they’ve given the site, it’s sad to see they’ve never done much to bolster written works. We’re still only given a tiny thumbnail to convey what’s in the story and if it’s worth clicking on.

That's sorta why I don't want to post on here. Sofurry is so much better for posting stories as I've found out. I also am not entirely sure if I want to post any pictures either as most if not all of them are already posted by the people I commission them from.

More than fair. Though If you were to post the pics you've gotten, you'd be able to use the attention here to guide people to your written works using journals. There's nothing wrong with reposts on this site, and most artists expect the people who commission them to do it since they 'own' the image and all, hehe.
