Yeah it does change somewhat after the opening, and go back to it after the climax, but if you couldn't stand the opening it wasn't going to change THAT much.

It was a mix of dealing with puberty and a lot of other growing up stuff, and inter-generational difficulties. She has problems with her mom, who has problems with her mom.

My experience was much different at that age, the conflicts I where between me and my peers. I hated Middle School and High School, the whole "be myslef and hang with my besties!" Only reminds me I didn't fit in, my peers either ignored or tormented me and I really didn't have friends.
I think its the same reason I can't watch Big Mouth, I don't want to relive the most frustrating painful time of my life that never had a satisfactory conclusion.

Yeah, it's loosely based on a real person's life, and set in 2002, but it's not a life like you had, and it's also not a life like I had. I was able to enjoy and appreciate the movie, but it's hard to get a true feel for the characters since they're so different from me.

I don't know if I 'fit in' or not. I sure wasn't normal, but I might have 'fit in' as the abnormal kid? But, I was also raised as a boy, and my relationship with my parents was way different.

The movie is a bit of a slow burn, for me, and a few others I've talked to; it changes and becomes more enjoyable shortly after the panda shows up; its just getting through all the set up before hand thats kinda a chore.
