Don't feel too bad, I know how it is... lol, i had a similar thing go through with The Source... an electronics and computer store... and all they wanted was people selling phones.... there was like, one small shelf of phones in the entire store and i knew about most of the electronics...so they got people who can't tell a AA battery from a AAA, but know phones... so they're hired. god forbid they know anything else in the store. lol that is backwards thinking for ya.

I've stopped trying. I've heard, even from the employees of the one in my town - The managers only hire people they like. [Ignoring qualifications/experience/ect]

It sucks something aweful.

If they do, go in there and hassle the fuck out of them.

Ugh... The trouble with hiring for retail is that they aren't just looking for employees, they're looking for furniture. If you don't contribute to the ambiance correctly, you're hosed.

I think GameStop solely hires rude, lazy ass teenagers anyway for one reason - they can probably relate to video games more and they probably need the job.

Not that you aren't video-game-savvy anyway, but still. :/ GameStop always came off as the WalMart of video games... Like, I'd never been to a GameStop until recently, right? Why are they selling "new" games (not "like new", I believe) without shrinkwrap? That's not new, that's just repackaged. RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE. >:I

It's honestly only a good job if you get to work with people who are people who you'd like to hang out with, I've been working at Gamestop for 4 years. I make just over minimum wage and get maybe 8-15 hours a week aside from holidays, then I get like 20, I can't get promoted cause I'm still in college :I the reason I've stuck with it so long is cuz I still get a discount and the people I work with are awesome.

And it gets kind of annoying how most people assume Gamestop employees are all rude lazy ass teenagers, I may be a teenager, but I'm none of the other two... Most of the stores in my district have awesome employees, sucks that apparently the majority of people automatically just see rude people. :\

Also not to rant or anything, but we take the game out of the case to put the empty case it on the wall for display so the actual game won't get stolen. And believe me people do try to steal from the stores, people walk out with empty cases not knowing any better... I don't see why people care so much that we need to protect products from getting stolen.

I have tried myself..i heard from a freind that works there unless you got skills in marketing and sales stuff yo cant get in or so i hear.

A lot of employers seem to be that way. Same goes if you send out your CV/resume to a company, invariably you'll hear nothing from them even if you asked a direct question. Been through it many times!
