I'd personally avoid any copyrighted character-themed adopts as someone who personally got a cease and desist :)

it's like a red hat being on another character that has the same shape and color of said red hat
different completely except for the hat, but overall the design is different

it's different if you blatantly copy a character as a whole tho ;-; which I wouldn't do

Maybe you can even go cheaper and do like lineart / sketches only? You can at least try if this sells ^^ I know some artist make super sketchy designs for cheap and it works.
