It's unfair of a person to do something like this to you after you put soo much effort into it. It's good that you seem to be staying cool through this however. Going out and having a breakdown isn't going to solve your problem. =(

I'm sorry to hear that man. That's what originally killed artwork for me in my childhood. I was actually a promising talent, and then my portfolio with EVERYTHING I'd ever drawn was stolen. I devastated and put off drawing anything for years and years. Now I can't draw worth a shit, it's all gone as evidenced by my gallery which only has doodles done over the last couple years that I now have the skills of an 8 year old.

Hm, why are you so sure it was stolen? Maybe you, or someone else just accidently put it in the wrong place, or whatever, and it will eventually show up again... ? Did you search the place thoroughly?

I have to say, though, if you know that many people have access to the studio, you shouldn't just leave your portfolio lying around. Yeah, I know, hearing that doesn't help the situation. But it's a lesson learned for the future, I suppose. :/

If nothing else, at least you got the experience from working on those various drawings, and if you have to redo some of it, at least it will likely turn out better than the original versions.

the portfolio was in a locker, locked. the lock was broken and my board still in the locker, everything else was gone, and yes, i've looked around, with the help of half the staff. and yeah, i'll be redoing most of it and I'll be better off for it

Oh shit, that is terrible man.

I nearly thought my portfolio was stolen as well at one stage, and I was about to board a plane from Madrid to Chicago. Luckily they had the doors stll open, and I ran back to see that the desk attendant had it with her, and said I left it while I was changing my ticket.

I was glad that it was just a stupid mistake of my own, but I don't think I could've been able to have replaced all that art I had in there.

*hugs* sorry to hear that dude. its probably some jealous mofo, that knows your younger than them, smarter than them, a better artist/designer than them and a hell of a lot better looking than them. But like you said in someone else's comment, you will be the better for re-doing it. I'm sorry to hear that you have to, cause i know redoing a semesters worth of work is a BITCH. I've had the same experience with a Com-sci project.

Once, I nearly lost my final year animation project cause I left my folder at the cafeteria. I walked back into the animation lab and realised I was sitting down empty-handed... and ran as fast as I could back to the place... Fortunately the file was still there.

I suggest that you put up some notices or something. Or file a report? Maybe some kind soul has brought it to the lost and found counter.

What you should do is go to work with a bomb strapped to your chest, and demand it back. Then, when they eventually take you to court, you plead insanity, from lack of art, and get off the hook scott-free. Of course, you have to promise to never ever ever for-never-ever do it again. :3

Hey dude, it really sucks :( I admire the way you are handling this. Me, I'd have ripped off a few heads already, guilty or not.

I'm familiar with that aspect of humanity as well...only our VAN go stolen while we were in a health clinic. My sister's art portfolio (100+ pictures) plus the back up floppies, were in it. All gone now. We are currently doing printscreens of what little work she posted on Deviant Art, just so we can get some of them back...

That's terrible, what an awful thing for a person to do... and those commissions and everything, ack. =(

I knew someone who stole a friend's painting and it was a piss off just to hear about it. (I ended up taking it back to give my friend, to which he asked for a picture of it and told me to keep the original.)
