In my opinion, this is less than an instantaneous death, especially when the grinders are used. This is unacceptable in my opinion. France and Germany have taken the first steps, very proud of them for their understanding of life and good morality.

They will not raise laying-genetics roosters to full size as meat birds, as purpose bred meat birds grow much faster with less inputs.
Look at these higher inputs as an negative environmental impact or simple monetary pressure. It is basically the same nowadays with price competition making profitability nearly synonymous to conservation of our limited resources in many areas. Chicken feed takes diesel, land, fertilizer, water, sunlight... So the cheaper option to make finished chicken on the shelf is also the more environmentally conscious.
World's just a harsh place in general, keep some chickens and you might see the results of raccoons pulling your chickens through chain link fence, piece by piece.
