I Made a Glow Potion Today
Hi,
I got back from Academy the other day to find obsidian in an odd state. Obsidian was insistently taking tufts of fur from my bed and setting them near the cave pool. I was a bit unsure what he was doing, but it didn't seem terribly bothersome... I'd just move my fluffs back to my bed later. Speaking of Fluffs, It was about time I traded for some new ones. I am not sure about you, but I find there is nothing better than a nice pile of furs and woven shed hair to curl up on at night. Usually I get them from this nice lizard's stand. I can't remember his name... He sources his furs from winter beasts who shave because they have issues shedding on their own. I've heard some animals such as sheep never shed on their own... Hm, Thankfully my coat gets nice and soft in the winter and nice and sleek in the summer. It'd sure be neat if I could grow and shed my hair on command though! I heard a rumor from school that it is possible by channeling your inner magic. Well, I don't know about inner magic, but I bet alchemy could do it! Hmmm...
Oh. Speaking of Alchemy, I made this awesome potion today that causes me to glow when I drink it.... I was supposed to be making more slippyjelly, but all of the reading I did about glowing deities kind of planted the idea maybe I could glow to. Now, I am not trying to impersonate a god or anything... I just wanted to be shiny. Let me make that very clear. I used the normal recipe for slippyjelly, but instead of mixing it like normal,
I snuck it to the top of our school's rock spire and set it onto some scorching hot black rocks. Intense heat waves radiated outwards and blurred areas around them. Several reptillian members of the community were splooted out on rocks smiling and taking in warmth. Don't get me wrong, I love to bask, But what is the point if you can't jump in some cool water to cool off....? And these black rocks are hotter than anything I've ever basked on!
The sun beat down as I carefully wedged the potion in between the hottest rocks I could find. A huge croc gave me a lazy glance, but thankfully, I hadn't seemed to draw much attention from any of the other baskers. Suddenly, the potion started to bubble and churn with color. Brilliant greens and yellows swirled and glowed....The little jelly within was changing! ...It just seemed different than the normal boiling you see in a lab. Well, Of course I had to test if it had any effects. I had read this was an ancient method used for creating lights to please the gods.... I don't know... when it came down to it....it just seemed like a more festive way to boil a flask.
Now I know what your thinking! Oh what an irresponsible little alchemist running off and trying new methods without researching them thoroughly and getting them approved. Well no, to that I say, I did do a little bit of research on the subject. I continued reading texts from the library on glowing gods, and found quite a lot of different approaches for what makes this phenomena happen. There were many interesting theories. Some studies claimed this gel was safe for all to consume with a pure heart. Other studies suggested these potions could activate dormant magical cells within a magical being, ha, sure yeah. There were a few really outlandish studies that thought you needed to have a pure heart or be a god yourself.... No.... I quickly moved past those. What a silly hypothesis.... right?
Well I was able to find something consistent in every study. Every study and ancient text I read on glowing deities, offerings, and this type of reaction were safe for consumption. Not a single study wrote of a dangerous interaction with the substance. Although, one did say misuse of the gel could cause eyebrow shedding....
Hm, I seem to have rambled a bit about science, well I guess it was the highlight of my day and all.... I guess somedays are just more work focused. Ah yes right so, did I sneak away to try my own reaction...? Well yes, but it was in the name of creativity! And besides I bet that the professors would not even mind... and not to mention this knowledge could be really useful! ... Hm well, I do not know what my next move is... there's is all kinds of additional trials and documentation and study I could do..... I could make this official..... But. I think, I'd rather not for now. That might take some of the fun away. I'd rather know more before doing anything anyway.
Hm... It seems the little froggy is bundling itself aggressively. How Odd. I did see him sneaking some salmon from my fridge today...Just glad the guy is eating now. Well the sun is down now, so I had ought to go to sleep. Very hard to see the paper!
Brief Update: I have not tried any of the potions in hours. I awoke from a bad dream to find my tail fur glowing intensely. Once I calmed down the light seemed to subside.... Obsidian is still bundled up in a cocoon like fluff ball.

Thanks for reading! ( I was a little tired so sorry for typos and stuff) I made an art illustration to go with this story. Titled Glow Potion.
