the order is simply geographic in a clockwise circle from north to east to south to west, it is not based on need (Donbas and Southern Ukraine are the areas of greatest need)
If you are listed in this Journal and you want your line/listing/text changed, please post a Comment or send me a Note. If you are not listed in this Journal but would like to be, please post a Comment below requesting to be added (if your account was created in 2022 or has less than 30 Watchers, be prepared to 'prove' you are a real Ukrainian by contacting someone on the list who has more than 49 Watchers and convincing them that you are a Ukrainian from this region and getting them to post a Reply to your Comment that supports you or requests for you to be added).
After making a Journal listing all the FurAffinity (FA) members that I could find who are from the Donbass region of Ukraine (the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts), which has been dealing with the suffering of war for the last 8 years, I managed to gather enough energy/motivation to do similar projects for some of the other Russophone regions of eastern and southern Ukraine that have been hit hard by the current 2022 Russian "Special Military Operation" (aka: war, invasion, scenic tour in armored vehicles) which often seems to result in heavy damage to the residential housing of many cities within range of artillery (perhaps to 'free' the residents from the burdens of home ownership or apartment rental), or the firing of rockets and cruise missiles into cities (perhaps to 'free' the residents from peaceful sleep and the illusion of safety). The city of Kharkiv is near Ukraine's🇺🇦 border with Russia🇷🇺 and has been withstanding repeated attacks since 24 February, 2022, so I decided to highlight it here, along with the entire oblast (area/region) that has the same name. Kharkiv is the second largest city in Ukraine and its once vibrant economy prior to the "Special Military Operation" is now just a hollow shell of what it was a few months ago. Many people have fled and many employers have laid off their employees, so work can be scarce for those who remain (leading artists to rely on commissions to feed themselves and their families).
(sigh, I think my sarcasm is showing just a tiny bit, but based on some feedback from people who are actually in the region I decided to keep the sarcasm because it seems to reflect a fairly common opinion of how people who are actually there feel about it -- see some of the Quotes below.)
I hope these lists of FA members from Kharkiv, Donbas, and Southern Ukraine will make it easier for people to Watch each other and help with promotion or 'signal boosts' when someone is in trouble or a newer member needs attention. I am also hoping that some of the people in the safer western and central regions of Ukraine will take an interest in helping those in/from places like Kharkiv and the Donbas, as well as the 'front line' cities in the southern region, even if the only help some people can provide is 'signal boosts' or writing kind Comments of support.

Below is a list of all the FA members/artists (that I could find) that have publicly mentioned that they are from Kharkov/Kharkiv/Харькова/Ха́рків or are still in Kharkiv (either the city itself or the oblast/region). I sorted them by number of FA Watchers [at the time I made the list], so the ones that you are most likely to recognize are at the top and the ones who could use some attention and new Watchers are at the bottom. I count ~33 and maybe a quarter or a third of them are still in the city for various reasons, from having relatives like aged parents/grandparents to not wanting to leave their own house/home to wanting to be involved with assisting in the defense of the city and others. Many could use assistance/commissions/donations/help and are listed in the big Journal of Ukrainian artists who need help, but some only mention their need on their own pages, or may have a very recent need, so please check them all out and consider giving them a Fave, Watch, commission or donation.

JOURNALISM:
Here are some assorted news articles about the Kharkov/Kharkiv region:
https://understandingwar.org/ <or> this <-- change the last day [a good source of war news]
"Nearly 170 schools and kindergartens, as well as 30% of high-rise buildings in Kharkiv, have been destroyed, Ukraine's Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security wrote in a Telegram post."
"We have eight thousand residential high-rises, 30% of them are to some extent destroyed," according to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov.
Kharkiv subway will resume operations after 3 months of serving as a shelter: "on May 24, we will open the subway" link
"The head of the Kharkiv regional military administration, Oleg Synegubov, said that 2,229 high-rise buildings have been damaged in Kharkiv, including 225 which were completely destroyed. In the northern and eastern districts of Kharkiv, 30.2% of the total housing stock has been damaged or destroyed." from here [29 May 2022]
"Amnesty International says Russia guilty of war crimes in Kharkiv shelling" headline from Reuters, with article here and similar from UPI here or Yahoo here or Al Jazeera here, while the 40 page report they are referencing is here.
"The Kremlin may have ordered Russian forces to take control of the entirety of Kharkiv Oblast, despite the extraordinary low likelihood of Russian success in such an effort. ISW offers this observation as a hypothesis rather than an assessment because evidence and indicators for it are limited and circumstantial." -- from 16 July ISW report

<this section is still in work> (if you are from Kharkiv then please suggest some informative news stories)
INFORMATION:
-- Some demographic information about the Kharkiv/Kharkov region: About 700,000 people now live in the city of Kharkiv (as of mid-June), about half of the population prior to February's invasion.
-- Some war history about Kharkov: The city of Kharkov changed hands four times in two years during WWII. The first Battle of Kharkov was fought 20-24 October 1941 as part of the final phase of Operation Barbarossa, the second Battle was fought between 12 and 28 May 1942, the Third Battle of Kharkov was between 18 February and 20 March 1943, while the Fourth and final Battle of Kharkov was fought 3-23 August 1943. (This video is part of an interesting history series on YouTube that covers WWII week by week.)
HOW YOU CAN HELP!:

Quotes from some people on FurAffinity who are in/from Kharkiv city or region
Here are some assorted separate quotes I have read (since I started working on this Journal) that were written by people currently in or from the Kharkiv region (and perhaps a couple from people with friends/family in the city or region). I tried to focus on peoples' individual personal experiences and their expressed opinions. I am also trying to reflect the overall 'spirit' of the city/region. The people and their viewpoints vary and although the order is not random they should not be read as if they come from one person who was trying to tell a consistent story. Any appearance of a consistent story from their order was created by me and the order I chose for these separate quotes from different people from the Kharkiv area:
> "I see you have already done a serious job of finding Kharkovites!"
> "Many of us speak Russian because we are close to the Russian border."
> "For the most part, the people I met understand that the blame for this mess does not lie with the whole of Russia, although there are also angry ones."
> "They won't be able to intimidate us, and the most ironic: they attacked to liberate [us] from the Ukrainian culture peaceful in relation to Russia"
> "I found the sarcastic part funny, because this is generally how we joke about it here, to cope with the situation"
> "about sarcasm, I think you can leave it like that. this probably reflects some Kharkiv residents who have the same attitude to all this, remained in the city, and try not to lose heart."
> "Thanks to all the brave Russian soldiers who have been bombing my city for these three weeks and have now started to bomb my district quite intensively. I guess there were really important military installations not far from me - especially all those apartment buildings that were blown up." [21 March]
> "I have never experienced such horror. Military planes flew over my house, and after 2-4 minutes the bombing began. It seems to me that even the Nazis were not so evil."
> "I run a twitter thread with photos that show the destruction of the area where I live."
> "If you want to read in full my story and what we experienced: https://t.me/yoritamiutranslate/13 "
> "I do not need much attention, just spreading my post with the story of how I had to leave home❤️"
> "No matter how they try to exterminate us, we try to rebuild everything, not to lose heart, and we always joke to make the situation easier."
> "I want to mention that some areas just went to hell. These are the occupied areas surrounded by Russian troops and those that were subjected to daily rocket attacks. Personally, I was in such an area, now the situation is better." [as of 22 May 2022]
> "Kharkiv people are very hardworking people (even during the war, representatives of public utilities restore light, water supply, etc., damaged by battles, and I consider them heroes. They risk their lives for others)."
> "I live in that part of the city, which was heavily shelled by Russian troops."
> "in many eyes I read fatigue and sadness. Everyone wants a peaceful life."
> "Im lucky to live in ~safe part of the city. Our district isnt damaged, and some people even live like nothing happens."
> "from what I know and see. those who left began to return to Kharkov. launched trolleybuses, and they want to launch the metro. there were more cars. But at the same time, many areas are still in a deplorable state. People who lived in the metro and lost their homes are relocated to university and institute dormitories. little by little, small businesses are trying to start up, shops and stalls with vegetables are opening." [as of 20 May 2022]
...
> "this is a terrific post that deserves attention and publicity, thank you for doing this, it is a very valuable help for Ukrainians."
> "I have no acquaintances outside the list, you have done a very voluminous and thorough job."
> "It's very touching that you especially care about artists from Kharkiv!"
> "Its really remarkable how you, being not from here, still care enough to conduct a whole charity information post about it."
> "I feel so warm in my soul that you gathered people like me, helped us more than once and even told about our lives."
[You're welcome]
People can claim their individual quotes if they want to, but do not need to admit/claim the quotes as theirs. If someone wants me to remove their quote or to move it somewhere else in the list of quotes, please send me a Note. I tried to "tell the story" that I thought I was reading from people in the region but the "story" I wrote is not the only story that can be told and I am sure some people will not agree with parts of it. If anyone else wants to put the quotes in a different order to "tell a different story" I will probably be amused to see it, however if you want to tell your own personal story it is probably better to do that in your own Journals or in the text under one of your own artworks and just include a link to that here.
P.S. I may eventually try to make a Journal to highlight the other southern oblasts/regions that are being heavily affected by the war, including the Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, as well as the city of Odesa, all of which have seen active fighting or significant missile attacks. If you would like to help (or work on that) please send me a Note and it will be finished much sooner. Ideally people from those regions would do something like this for their own region. Update: there are now three Journals so far, for Kharkiv, Donbas, and Southern Ukraine.
Thank you for what you do! You have really done a great job helping Ukrainian artists!~

Thank you for adding me :)
