*estimated publication date for a separate Western Ukraine Journal ~31 June <sic> or when this Central & Western Journal has more than 35 people
the order is simply geographic in a clockwise circle from north to east to south to west, it is not based on need (Donbas and Southern Ukraine are the areas of greatest need)
This Journal is still a work in progress (as of 18 July) and will continue to be updated slowly. It may even be modified to cover a different group of oblasts, depending on the comments/opinions/feedback I get -- for now it will include all of the Western oblasts. If you are not listed in the Journal but would like to be, please put a Comment below or send me a Note (if your account was created in 2022 or has less than 30 Watchers, be prepared to 'prove' you are a real Ukrainian by contacting someone on the list who has more than 49 Watchers and convincing them that you are a Ukrainian and getting them to post a Comment that supports you or requests for you to be added). If you are listed in the Journal and you want your line/listing/text changed, please post a Comment or send me a Note.
The previous four 'regional focus' Journals for NE & East-Center Ukraine, Kharkiv, Donbas, and Southern Ukraine focused on the areas where most of the active fighting was by June 2022 and the 'second line' behind the active fighting. This Journal focuses on one of the safer regions of the country, the Central region (Kirovohrad, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Zhytomyr oblasts) and the safest region, the West (Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia, Ternopil, Lviv, Volyn, Rivne oblasts), although these areas still suffer from air-raid sirens and ballistic/cruise missile attacks, anxiety about Belarus or Transnistria, and worries about loved ones in more dangerous regions or in the UAπΊπ¦ military, as well as an influx of refugees, unemployment, rising food prices, scarcity of gasoline, and other effects from the war* being fought with the Russianπ·πΊ military and the associated Russian psychological operations.
*or "special military operation" if you like that phrase or are legally required to use it (on threat of up to a 15 year 'vacation' in Siberia)
These 'regional focus' Journals seem to be most effective when they have about 30 people. Unlike the big Journal of Ukrainian artists who need assistance/help at https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/10138995/ these 'regional focus' Journals are for everyone who is/was from that region/area of Ukraine (including people who are in good financial condition and non-artists). Also, anyone from a 'safer' part of Ukraine can ask to be added to this Journal, without specifically revealing exactly where in the country they are.
Note that this regional Journal has fewer people listed than some of the other regions, despite covering more oblasts and a much greater area. I am aware of FA members who are in this region but are not listed and prefer not to be listed. Others and I have speculated that this is partially because Ukrainians living in these regions feel somewhat less imminently threatened and thus tend to value anonymity somewhat more. However everyone from the region covered is welcome to be listed here, even if they don't need aid/assistance/help or are not artists (see "Other/Undisclosed" towards the bottom).
ALERTS & REQUESTS:
I could use some assistance in maintaining this Journal, if you are from this area/region and want to help then please leave a Comment or send me a Note.
Aorumi is doing collabs, see https://www.furaffinity.net/view/49836828/
CathyNoire -- "I'm running a raffle > https://www.furaffinity.net/view/50179679/ which lasts until December 25th" ππ
LiaItsuki is now helping to ask people if they want to be on the list and helping confirm who is Ukrainian [added 21 June]
Fateview just opened for commissions, see https://www.furaffinity.net/view/47974072/ [added 7 July]
I could use some Ukrainian volunteers for a future "signal boost" effort (please send me Note if you are interested in helping) [updated 17 Dec]
GREATEST NEEDS:
Most of the 'greatest needs' are people who are either still in or refugees from Donbas, Southern Ukraine, and Kharkiv so see those links. The biggest problems for people from this region seem to be the economic impact of the war (no jobs, high prices for gas and food, etc.) and the terror caused by Russian cruise missiles.

(Greatest needs listings automatically expire one month after listing unless renewed by a request in a Comment or someone is from a destroyed/occupied area)
NEEDS: (circa Dec 2022)

<older needs>
Dogava recently escaped from Enerhodar and art is her only source of income and needs help and commissions [added 16 July]
RemJ -- lost their job and needs some help with money until they find a new job, please order art or "boost". see here & here [added 11 July]
LiaItsuki -- "in a difficult financial situation (there is no job in my city and I sometimes do not have enough to pay for utilities not to mention the food)"
PistachioHorror -- the author/maintainer of the big Journal of Ukrainian artists who need assistance/help, has just created a Patreon, see here β
(Needs listings automatically expire in two months if the person does not have a recent Journal or artwork description that discusses their need)
Internally-Displaced People (IDP) now living in this region:
(These FA members fled from somewhere else in Ukraine where the conditions were worse, possible much WORSE!)
Dogava , RemJ , Fateview , Yarina_the_goat , Nerior (2014) <there are probably more, but not all want it to be known>
CENTRAL & WESTERN UKRAINE artists/furries list:
(with a quote copied {or translated} from somewhere on FA, [or a summary]... which may be out of date)If anyone would like to be added or deleted from the list below or wants the quote/summary changed please post a Comment or send me a Note.
Key to the symbols:
α΅ = might still be in their city/oblast/region (need to check <or> they want to be vague about their current location)
* = still in their city or oblast [as of May 2022]
β¦ = dead FA member (none that we know of yet, thankfully) ; F(β¦) = a Family member died in the war ; f(β¦) = a good friend died in the war
β = now somewhere safe/safer <-- since this region is fairly 'safe' this probably means they have left the country
β = takes commissions
β = has a Patreon (and probably takes commissions too)
β· = has a BuyMeACoffee
β = has a Ko-Fi
[W:#] = how many Watchers on FA when added to the list (to help direct aid and attention to less well-known members)
β = has replied to me
ββ = has replied to me & has linked to or 'boosted' this Journal [every β after the first also has a link to where they 'boosted']
Central Ukraine
Some text about the area goes here, bla, bla, bla... This heading will not be needed unless this Journal is used for both the Central and Western regions (all 11 oblasts), so it is just experimental at this time. <I did say this Journal was still under construction/development>
-- Central region (Kirovohrad, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Zhytomyr oblasts) --
Kirovohrad/Kirovograd oblast:
[Total population is just less than 1 million.]
-- FA members (2) --

Alerts/news for Kirovohrad [23 July], : "Russia launched eight Kalibr cruise missiles and five Kh-22 anti-ship missiles at Kirovohrad Oblast, targeting the Kanarove military airfield and a facility of Ukrzaliznytsia, Ukraineβs state railway operator, Kyiv Independent reports. Three people were killed and 19 injured." -- source (The term 'safer' is relative to eastern and southern Ukraine and even the central regions of Ukraine are not 'safe' from Russian missile attacks. The Kremlin is now apparently "throwing the kitchen sink" and Kh-22 "Kitchen" cold-war era anti-ship missiles at Kirovohrad too, apparently the Russian military thinks it is a 'ship' like a shopping mall in Kremenchuk; preliminary reports indicate the anti-ship missiles failed to sink the city)
Vinnytsia oblast:
[Total population is just over 1.5 million.]
-- FA members (2) --

Khmelnytskyi oblast:
[Total population is just over 1.2 million.]
-- FA members (2) --

Zhytomyr oblast:
[Total population is just over 1.2 million. During the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine Russian troops partly occupied the region until 4 April 2022.]
-- FA members (3) --

Undisclosed location in Central Ukraine (one of the above oblasts or nearby):
[Not everyone wants to disclose their exact oblast. Total population of the Central region oblasts is ~5 million.]
-- FA members (?) --
Western Ukraine
Until this Journal has more than 30 people it will include both Central and Western Ukraine. The Western region of Ukraine is reasonably 'safe' (as far as anywhere in Ukraine is safe from Russian long-range missiles) but not nearly as safe as living in a country where there is not an active war* going on. This region will not list the different oblasts separately and if anyone from another region of Ukraine does not want to list where they are from or where they live then they can also be included here.
-- Western region (Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia, Ternopil, Lviv, Volyn, Rivne oblasts) --

Other/Undisclosed
Undisclosed location in Central or Western Ukraine, or any other 'safe' or semi-safe region in Ukraine:
[may also be from/in one of the neighboring oblasts (or possibly even Kyiv), or any area of Ukraine if they really don't want to give their exact location for whatever reason]
This is also where icons/people may go until I have contacted them to find out exactly how/where/if they want to be listed (for instance if they've publicly stated that they are 'safe in western Ukraine') and where people from Kyiv who really want to be on these lists can be included until there is a specific Kyiv list. some of these people may be moved to a separate Journal for Western Ukraine when it is ready (~31 June <sic>) or when this Journal has more than ~35 people

JOURNALISM:
Here are some assorted news articles about central or western Ukraine:
https://understandingwar.org/ <or> this <-- change the last day [a good source of war news]
"While Belarus and Russia retain close military cooperation and the ongoing Belarusian exercises are likely intended in part to threaten Ukraine, Belarus remains unlikely to enter the war in Ukraine on behalf of Russia. As ISW has previously assessed, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko likely cannot afford the domestic consequences of involving his limited military assets in a costly foreign war.[5] Unsupported Belarusian forces are additionally highly unlikely to be effective, and Russia lacks the reserves necessary to conduct another offensive toward Kyiv. These exercises are undoubtedly intended to posture and threaten Ukrainian border areas but are unlikely to preempt actual involvement in hostilities." on 23 June 2022, from https://understandingwar.org/backgr.....ssment-june-23

HOW YOU CAN HELP!:
see the section in the 'southern Ukraine' focus Journal (just above the Quotes): https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/10230885/
I am open/receptive to thoughts and suggestions, especially if you have any more ideas for the "HOW YOU CAN HELP!" section (only found in https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/10230885/ for now).
You may link to my
Quotes from some people on FurAffinity who are in/from central Ukraine
Here are some assorted separate quotes I have read (since I started working on this Journal) that were written by people currently in or from northeast and east-central Ukraine. I tried to focus on peoples' individual personal experiences and their expressed opinions. I am also trying to reflect the overall 'spirit' of the area/region. The people and their viewpoints vary and although the order is not random they should not be read as if they come from one person who was trying to tell a consistent story. Any appearance of a consistent story from their order was created by me and the order I chose for these separate quotes from different people from different towns/cities the area:
<<this section is still in work, but it has some quotes already>>
> "I've been living in Ukraine since birth, it's my home country, I grew up here."
> "The war came on February 24. On the morning of that day, a bomb landed in the city where I am now. It was scary, but it wasn't too loud, so it wasn't too emotional."
> "Then the war started, and I was quiet, but scared. Every day there were sirens"
> "I am very embarrassed to ask to be added to the list....but" [that is why these lists are for everybody from the region]
> "I am in a difficult financial situation (there is no job in my city and I sometimes do not have enough to pay for utilities not to mention the food"
> "sometimes bombs come here too"
> "I know a little about the situation in Volyn (western Ukraine)."
> "That's a very big mental stress for everyone in the Western Ukraine actually"
> "You may have heard that we have different dialects in different areas, but we still understand each other perfectly (except Zakarpattia..."
> "my boyfriend's mother is a praying Putin. She loves him, and really believes he is liberating, living in Ukraine at this time. And she thinks it's the Ukrainians who are bombing. Propaganda works here too"
---
> "Thank you! It's all OK."
> "wow thank you for doing such journals."
> "Thanks a lot for your work, I can see and appreciate how much effort was put into all that!"
> "I think this journal is great!! <3"
> "I wonder what inspired you to do this anyway."
> "Thank you for everything that you do!"
People can claim their individual quotes if they want to, but do not need to admit/claim the quotes as theirs. If someone wants me to remove their quote or to move it somewhere else in the list of quotes, please send me a Note. I tried to "tell the story" that I thought I was reading from people in the region but the "story" I wrote is not the only story that can be told and I am sure some people will not agree with parts of it. If anyone else wants to put the quotes in a different order to "tell a different story" I will probably be amused to see it, however if you want to tell your own personal story it is probably better to do that in your own Journals or in the text under one of your own artworks and just include a link to that here.
Please look at the "HOW YOU CAN HELP!" section and send me a Note if you have any more ideas.
