Hello all, if you've been following me for a long time you know that I don't normally post super personal stuff nor do I ask for help especially financially. However my family and I are in a situation where we need to provide care for our older cat... he's 16 years old (at least) and has recently developed oral squamous cell carcinoma. Basically a giant mass of mouth cancer, which as it sounds, is really painful for him, and makes it difficult to eat. He's on medications for it but the outlook does not look good. Maybe 2-4 months left, the vet says, if we're optimistic. Take into the fact that we're also going to be moving within the next couple weeks, which has a lot of our cash tied up at the moment, including basically all credit card bills. Also gas and food are fucking expensive right now, as we're all painfully aware of. So things are getting really sticky.
I'm taking commissions to help with his vet bills - mainly right now the pain and cancer medications are the biggest cost. But if he gets to be too frail and in pain I am not going to prolong his life unnecessarily.
We lost another one of our cats exactly a year ago to cancer as well and he suffered the last couple of weeks. I don't want to repeat the same thing.
