Unpopular opinion on Closed Species...

So... Ima exspress my opinion on CS..
Let me start off saying that there are many cute ones out there.. Like freaking adorable. I have a few myself(they were reasonably priced)
However.... why.. the FUCK would someone make one of these CS... and sell them for $500+ as a STARTING BID for an auction.... That is a rent payment when I first moved out of my parents home in 2011. It blows my fucking mind. It's fucking stupid. Sorry not sorry. I mean I have even bought some CS before... but nothing even close to the amt some people charge... FOR FUCKING DOODLE SCRATCH LOOKING characters. (<_<)...IM NOT gonna name any but you know what one's I am speaking of.
Next... WHY is it that some closed species owners act like they are part of a cult. Like brain washed obsessed with these species... and tend to have a "OHHHH you are an outsider.. poor peasant you don't have one! " *evil laughs.* Like, fuck you people and your overpriced and overrated closed species bullshit. The better then you attitude so many( not all) have because they got lucky in a raffle or spent their life savings on a single character... just so they can be part of the select few to own a "such and such design."

I've heard stories and rumors about two CS that made me shudder. Its very much cringe and culty. Dont get me wrong, the characters are cute but the people make me say never lol

I've definitely seen a few CS over the years that I've thought the same things about. Not to mention that some of them aren't really particularly inspired. $500 for the honor of having a member of that species is just nuts, though, and it's more amazing that some people are willing to pay that much.

Yeah, like have seen some amazing customs over the years with art and reference sheets that have costed much less but were much higher quality work. Its sooooo fucked up.

I feel like if I ever wanted to pick up a masters in economics, I could just do it on the furry art market sometimes because that's at least worth a couple dozen research papers just to understand all of the insanity.

Whats worse is the fact there are people will actually burn their wallets to buy it at that price. Enabling the scummy pricing to remain because it.... oddly and problematically.... works.....
