Conservative Parents try to Ban Online Libraries

if fyou don't want to watch the full 30 minutes, here's the short summary:
conservative parents in several states, like Florida, Texas, Tennessee and others, are targeting E-reader Apps of various companies and are trying to take them down in order to prevent their children to have access to books.
the books in question are, to nobody's surprise, books either written by, about or discussing the LGBTQ as well as books that discuss the less glorious parts of US history like slavery, racism and their ramifications which plague US society to this day.
its ironic that the parents who are usually the quickest to remind everyone that "america is a free country!" are currently trying to do everything in their power in order to restrict and abolish freedom.
its also quite scary because their number is rather sizeable, especially in their home states, in which they enjoy the backing or pandering of conservative politicians, which could lead to these parents actually getting their will.
regardless of what you or I might think about the LGBTQ community, racism, slavery and how these things are taught in school, at the end of the day, America is a free country.
or at the very least, America is supposed to be a free country.
being a free country means that access to these books, both physically in libraries as well as digitally through E-readers and online libraries, should be provided.
if you don't, all you end up doing is changing the US into a copy of Russia with a different name and a different flag.
if that were to happen, America would be land of the free no more...
There might have been a time when it was somewhat truthful, the ideals of freedom (relative to the alternatives around the world) and opportunity (depending on the color of your skin and where you came from) may have actually existed Vs. the laughable charade that we hardly bother to maintain after corporations bought the legislature who in turn stacked the Judiciary with hacks that say the corporations and the sperm cell meeting the egg cell have more rights than the trans man/woman that the sperm was unceremoniously stuffed into.
the people who knowingly turn a blind eye to this and still drink the swill labeled the American dream of course being those easily cowed by the boogeyman of some life after life being guaranteed after an apocalyptic event they call for from their wrathful, hateful deific being. Pandering to culture war BS and being unhinged in their xenophobia, their hatred of anything foreign to their tiny little bubble they've lived in is the only way their politicians slide by. The very world crumbles because the corporations mistreat it, and here they are cheering their 'God' enacts terrorism against rocks with foreign languages carved into them in Georgia. They are chanting 'Blood and Soil!' because Robert e. Lee needs to be immortalized in front of a place of polling, but then SQUEAL like the pigs they are when knowledge of what people did in the name of Robert E. Lee gets put in a book and taught to their kids.
The left wing has been overly censorious and cancel culture for years now, while the right wing complains about it all the time... Only to turn around two seconds later and do their own censorious cancel culture.
Left wing or right wing, they are both on the same damn stupid broken bird.
If people legitimately think that these "Materials" have more influence than them as parents then perhaps they need to get more involved in their childrens lives.
