saw someone mention "go woke, go broke" in the comments. i...don't think that was the case here as this was employee's complaining it wasn't woke enough.

so...this wasn't a case of them going broke after going woke. this is a case of the woke mob shutting them down due to NOT being woke.

from the article: "Doc Marie’s is a lesbian bar that opened on July 1st of this year with the hope of bringing more inclusivity to the city of Portland. But just one week after their grand opening they were forced to shut down because of complaints that the bar was not a “safe space.” Similar to the story I wrote a few weeks ago about the queer-owned cafe in Philadelphia that was shut down by employees for not being woke enough, Doc Marie’s was cannibalized by the woke mob.

The crowd on opening day was huge. One woman said that the line for entry on opening night was “wrapped around the block” with “literally 200 lesbians” waiting to get in."

sounds like it was off to a good start buuut...

"But the excitement about a new progressive hangout dissipated quickly. Within days, Doc Marie’s found itself on the receiving end of accusations of not being inclusive enough for trans people and people of color."

i can guess what led to that. (women not wanting to be around men)

there's a couple pics from the employees who made demands like... "The employees also demanded that the bar host “free opportunities for education” for the community."

2nd pic is just them complaining their demands had not been met by the deadline. here's what the first says:

"WE, THE MARIE EQUI WORKER'S COLLECTIVE (hereafter MEWC), are composed of the current employees of Doc Marie's. We only speak for ourselves, not of ownership of the bar, DONK Brands LLC. This is the only social media account affiliated with the MEWC.

We felt misled about the space being safe and welcoming. Our vision is a queer worker owned cooperative that is ran democratically, provides mutual aid, and hosts free opportunities for education to our community."

uh huh, the latter half of that sounds rather communist to me... and clearly they thought it wasn't going to be a bar just for lesbians and did not want that.

"Eventually, the employees demanded the owners relinquish ownership of the bar and hand the business to them. The owners were given a “24-hour deadline” to adhere to the ludicrous demands."

and the owners later made the worst mistake anyone can make with the woke mob: they apologized

"We hear you and are taking steps to ensure we carry out our mission of being a proud, safe, and inclusive space for our community. We will be posting updates on our action plan shortly, as well as a timeline for reopening. Thank you!"

freaking activists... the bar owners actually had the right idea of not being woke but of course...they caved to the demands and apologized.

off topic but i just remembered an interesting question. if someone is gay, transgender, and goes through all the hormone therapy and surgery in an effort to become the opposite sex, does that not imply that they are actually straight?

in this case, that'd be lesbians not wanting to be around men pretending to be lesbians. since...

if you're a woman, you're a lesbian.
if you're a man, you're gay.

if you're a transwoman...you're still a biological male so...gay if wanting to be with a man, straight if wanting to be with a woman. and vice versa for transmen.

so...part of this situation would thus be straight guys trying to invade a lesbian bar. since transwomen are biological males and transmen are biological females...it makes sense.
