I wish it was more complicated than that, but the idea of being able to turn into a cool anthro dragon stuck with me well into adulthood after seeing that show.

NOSTALGIA is powerful, too! I would have been a dragon for the same reasons, if my fursona didn't feel, well preordained!

The choice of Wolf originally was in a way a natural one starting from being my fav animal.
Now with everything I learned and how White changed and grew I dont think that there could have ever been another option.

I dont have a Fursona personally. It, was impossible to decide on an animal. I think a Bear would have good choice because Im a big dude and I like Fish :3. A Horse was a choice because its my Chinese Zodiac and teh description for one very closely suits me. Then I thought about a Tiger, because Im a huge Cat person, and I think out of all the cats, a Tiger is the closest I relate to.
Then there is the lion, I dont know why, Lions are my Favorite Animal.
But....I could never settle between them, and even if I did think X animal would be good...I couldnt think of a good design. And I wanted a proper representation, and not some Super Sexy version of me in a Different universe

So at the end of the day, instead of a Fursona...I just made characters. All of which is a Part of me and my personality.
They were all pretty much made randomly with no real reason or inspiration outside of...this is cool at the time, and I built them up from there.
Well ok, Laskey, my Irish Wolfhound WAS inspired from my 1st ever encounter with one, and I thought...that would make a Handsome Butler Character. XD

I ended up sticking with a Fennec after a few unsuccessful attempts because of the fact some of my favorite things are 'small, adorable, and obscenely obnoxious' as some have told me. Before hand, I've always just enjoyed foxes as well~ But the first time I saw a Fennec Fox, I just kinda fell in love with their general energy and cuteness!

And thus; I eventually made Ling, and has stuck ever since! (The choices before was a wolf, tiger, and the close-second for similar reasons except removing the 'small' was a samoyed~)

I took my three favourite animals (at the time) and kinda squishd them together. But then realized I love raccoons too, so want to add that but been too lazy to revamp, abd have a Raccoon OC that's more like me than my actual sona lol. It complicated to choose now :P
Also decided to call my mixture species as my name, so Rizer is a Rizer lel.

I've had a fixation on wolves ever since i saw one at the zoo for the first time. They were so powerful and breathtaking, much bigger then the family dog. Ever since, I've really felt a connection with wolves, so it just made sense to have my main fursona be a wolf.

Really, the closest thing I have to a sona is my OC, Gale, who is human. Parts of his design, character, and lore are based off my own life.

A long history of trying to figure out something which clicked. Started out as a dragolf you are familiar with more out of convenience as he was my main character rather than identity, decided to make something more representative so I became a fox for a bit, settled on a chocobo due to being a massive nerd and liking birds.

It's good you kept experimenting. Our fursonas just become more and more like us over time, we have to give them the freedom to grow. <3

I chose a wolf because there are a lot of them were I am from and because I like wolves. I like their social construct, how they operate as a pack which is sort of like a big poly relationship. I can also sort of empathize with them. They're often characterized in literature as the bad guy but they're just doing what they do to survive.

They're not bad, they're just drawn that way.

The elegance and power of the wolf is never to be understated. Excellent choice.

Started as a rabbit because I saw a cute bunny picture and I liked it, but evolved into a fox rabbit over time because it just fit better.

How to begin with mine?

I've always somewhat had a foot in the water of being a furry since I was a little kid, most likely. I'd most likely cite several shows and movies from the 80s, 90s, into the 2000s as probably what defined or developed the idea of a base fursona. An American Tail, All Dogs Go To Heaven, The Secret of N.I.M.H., Sonic SatAM, Road Rovers, to name a few, there's plenty among the old Disney movies as well from Rescuers to Robin Hood! I'd probably say the footstep into the waters began when I developed and drew my first sona, a fox during middle school, and then converted into a Sonic OC in the golden years of DeviantART, nothing too special about it, just a earthy furred fox that could do pyrokinesis and cryokinesis ( I know I know, total Chunibyo/Eight Grader Syndrome moment! ). I can't say why I picked a fox out of all manner of species out there, but there was an attraction to the critter and generally has been a favorite towards it since elementary school and having to do research projects on arctic wildlife (being arctic foxes <3 ). That however stuck as a standard representation of me for nearly a decade until I left it behind following the breakup with my ex.

In the years afterward, though I left the water, I still had an imprint and residual left in me that I couldn't really say didn't exist. My imagination filled a lot of desire for a sona of a sort, inspired by a lot of the older artists at the time that showcased the fur community between 2011-2014 but I wouldn't take an active approach for a few more years. Cheyenne was born a couple years later when I decide to approach an artist I admired for a long time and for that time and craft an identify of a sort, but I wanted to pick a species that few or little people did. I saw lots of wolves, lots of foxes, lots of cats, dogs, rabbits, and the list goes on. So I settled upon a coyote for the time, and Chey became a face character of myself online, what people saw and wanted to see, and for a long while I was content with it.

The more I wadded into the waters of the community the more stronger a want for a "me" began to happen. A couple years after Chey was born, I asked my friend if they wouldn't mind helping weave a fursona of myself, I provided a recent photo of me attending a friends wedding as a base and decided on a Old English Sheepdog as the species I wanted to see myself as. I had seen a lot of other potential species of dogs to pick too, but the characterization and adorable characteristics of the sheepdog was too hard to pass on (long hair over the eyes obscuring sight felt rather like me and fitting for a shy and introverted natured person like me! )! And at that point, my first and actual fursona was brought to light and life. But while he existed, he didn't get much of a chance or time being with my OCs or interacting with other OCs, and long went unused. He'd appear here and there but nothing specifically focused on him, you could say he became a side character to the world with my actual OCs functioning as the main characters .

As I passed five years in the fur community, I wanted to update him badly and breathe some new life into him, as well as tie in a lot more meaning and grounding with him. Looking at my ancestry both recent and far back, I wanted to have some link and homage to that, along with my personality and physicality tied to him. That's when I decided to do a dog mix of German Shepherd and Norwegian Buhund, as a way of having part of my Nordic heritage shown, but also have sprinkles of the sheepdog still there though mixed in with things. c: And well, you know the rest Shash as you worked on updating him and breathing life into my updated sona! <3 I can't say I had any painful decisions or casually thought out decisions, but I can say that I devoted considerable thought and reflection upon myself and look inwards for answers. c:

As far as special connections go as well, I've never really been around dogs or canines my entire life, always cats, but everyone else seem to have a dog but my mom spoke really fondly of her family's old German Shepherd when she was a kid and young adult and that always stuck with me, and probably influenced my choice and decision to go with a part shepherd. c:

Well I knew a good deal of this - (I was in on the process!) I love hearing the whole story, and the fine details! It's so like you to have a storied history behind any decision, and having influences from so many different sources. I love it! I think your sona as it currently stands is VERY fitting, well done!

I went with a wendigo from the sheer amount of interest I have in learning about cryptids, folklore, legend, and mythology from different cultures and places in the world, and made them a highlander since a Highlander hero had just been added to the game For Honor by then and I love to learn about Scottish and Irish history, and all it took was figuring out what to do for the design of a homebrewed D&D character.

I don't have any art, of course, and despite what my profile pick is It's a black-furred werewolf, because I love TF and wolves.

I started as a fennec, I think they're cute and I connect with them because I'm hyper and impulsive by nature.

When I began RPing as one I didn't know what noises they made, so I substituted cat sounds.

By the time I learned fennec noises the cat ones had become second-nature, so I made myself a hybrid of the two. :P

I went jaguar cause they are my fav big cat. A much younger me loved cats and big cats were cool, and during that time we were learning a lot about the jungle in school and jaguars were a part of that. Plus I liked things that started with a J like my name. :P

Dragons. I blame Spyro, ADJL and digimon and pokemon for me being a dragon. Originally my sona was a werewolf but it didnt fit in with how i was and i've always been a big fan of magic and transforming into another form (also blame DBZ, that show's had a massive impact on my life too).

My main sona and my main OC are foxes. When I was a kid I fell in love with a show called "The Animals of Farthing Wood" are a lot of the characters were foxes :D So it's been a life long love of foxes and my characters needed to be them xD

I am a gearhead so I picked the fastest cat and the fastest dog. So I picked a Cheetah/Greyhound mix, although you have to get in my pants to see my canine bits, LOL!

I struggled for a super long time to 'decide' what my species was.

Eventually it just boiled down to Alligator because I 'liked' the look of a 'big, chonky reptile'. I liked that 'big and imposing but also possibly cuddly' aspect to him (like Bowser, but I was never much into Nintendo / Mario games)

I'm surprised I didn't go Dinosaur, as I still like them to this day, but maybe I wanted something more 'grounded and present-day'? (Even though I then slapped a not-natural colour scheme on him and designed him in a way to include things I like. Glowing, aztec-style, bones, black and green, etc, etc)

Started on second life with my AV getting Called a bunny or a fennec so i just made them a Fenbit and it kinda stuck

So i have a cat, but i didn't really choose it (friends drew me as one), but now i ended up as a moogle, thanks to a certain twitter user and my weird history with FF in general (starting one, ending up halfway through and forgetting where i left off), and especially FF14. i liked small creatures and was originally looking at a yordle, buuuuuuuuut after some thinking and one commission to see how it would come out i ended up liking the moogle a lot. so here i am kupo!

My decision did come with some people being a bit upset since i was known as the local pink cat, but hey i wanna be what i wanna be. what's the fun in having people choose what you wanna be after all?

But seriously Tensa was gonna be a fox, but it felt a little too "generic". The funny meme dog thing sold it to me and the fact that shibas are just chubby foxes.

I've always considered my characters as characters and not fursonas, but of course, like with any art one creates, they all have part of me in them.

The first characters I created were cooked up on a whim along with my username, which is basically a twist on "Sick fox". The characters are a knot of references back and forth between the username, their species (Fox/skunk, or "Funk"), their names, and some aspects of their personalities, etc. They are twins, brother and sister, named Sylvester S. Fox and Moon Stone "Moon Moon" Fox. The puzzle(S) within that are for people to figure out or guess for themselves.

Still haven't gotten around to making ref sheets for them. I'm lame about that. I do have a lot of ideas about their personalities, backstories, etc. though.

I am the phin because I was introduced to furry crap at a young age through the artworks of Chalosan and absolutely fell in love with that adorable orca girl.

Ironically, the real me:

- can't swim
- fear of large water bodies, especially water voids
- hates most fish

My subconscious also dreamed up an orca boy named Acro recently... I'd give him some spotlight if I could finalize literally anything about him mentally.

Well, as for my bat fursona I wanted something out of the traditional canine fursonas you see everywhere on the furry fandom. Plus I want him to be unique, so there you go. 🦇

I liked the design and aesthetic. I ceased to be fond of sergals a while back, but Ronnie would always be a sergal.

My main OC that I see myself as was actually a completely random chance, I had some art created by AllyMoodyNeko, and she included a species of bird we had been talking about for the last few years in the image, that tiny blue ball of fluff and bird seed would become Kora, I have always loved birds and she has gone through a lot of changes over the years, going form a small bird you could mistake for a ball to a rather thick burd gal, over time she got thinner and more manageable, heck even tried on new cloths and styles, the best memory I have of this character is just that, it was brought to existence from a tiny ball with eyes and a beak.

Kora though being a bird has a few major weaknesses hahah
-Can not say no to pumpkin flavors
-Is afraid of heights yet can fly....maybe...barely...she never really tried hahahah
-Is very prone to just agreeing with someone before realizing what they agreed to

she was a creation of what I wanted to be, outgoing and honest to a fault, and over the years I feel I have been able to do that.

But yeah I am a bird watcher so in the end I chose a Local bird and Kora was born is the long and short.
