A realistic 3D model for Wanda - let the journey begin!
Hello everyone!
So this happens to be my first journal here. I think the main Reason why I do this journal is because I want to provide an accompanying background information to the rendering's I'm sharing with you guys today, at least for the people interested to know more.
I know there are a couple of people here who love Wanda as well, so despite the fact that I am doing this by my own drive, I guess I'm also curious on Feedback and opinions.

Soo, I have been planning to start working on a more realistic Wanda model for a VERY long time, but unfortunately I didn't have the timely capacity to get it started earlier. I also was / am thinking about commissioning a really talented 3D Artist to create one at some point, but that's just a sidenote.
My main reason for doing, is because I am working on a way way bigger project where she is one of my driving factors of motivation, and at some point I will need a 3D model of her in that context. However, since I am doing all of this in my free time only, and a 3D model of Wanda is not the highest priority for my project at this point yet, I was busy with other things first during the last year.
Sadly, there is only one(?) 3D model of Wanda by
furromantic (Props to you for your great work btw.!) (publicly) available at this point I think (Leaving other Koikatsu Cards aside, since to get them e.g. in Blender, there is a whole bunch of export steps needed).
What you're seeing in my posts are renderings from Chara Studio, a scene creation Engine included in the adult video game Koikatsu!, which allows anyone to create all kinds of scenes with their Waifu characters created in the Koikatsu! character editor. As you can see, the graphics quality; especially the texture quality of Chara Studio's maps is pretty much limited. But it's actually more of a trying out of the capabilities of Koikatsu!'s character editor. Also the Koikatsu! models have the advantage to be already fully rigged when eventually exporting them; so I decided to invest the time and give it a go.
So wait. Why another Wanda model when there is already one? And a couple of existing Character Cards for her in Koikatsu! as well?
I think having a bigger variety of 3D models for Wanda can't hurt their eventual adaption for other fan-art. So my plan is, in case I am going to be content with the model tweaking from the character editor, to export it to blender and share it with the community for free.
Also, altough most of this is due to my personal preference, I think the existing Chara cards, but also
furromantic's model, render her either a bit too cartoon-y or too much as a (late) teen girl (or both). But the Wanda from the Anime show that I fell in love with, is a remarkable, young adult mink lady who has endured unspeakable torments, but despite that managed to retain her warm-hearted character, as well as her inner and outer strength.
So I wanted her appearance to reflect exactly that. Great inspiration in this also have been the numerous artworks of
rodenbeard, featuring her in a way that I'd imagine her to be looking like in a realistic way.
So starting from ccube's Card of Wanda for Koikatsu, I did the following tweaks:
- Resized her skull to what I think(?) is a more realistic relation towards the rest of her body.
- Prolonged, widened and sharpened her snout compared to the rest of her face, to be closer to the anime and artwork references.
- Resized her eyes to roughly match the anime and artwork references. (The eyes still need some work I guess)
- Widened her upper waist and slightly reduced her chest dimensions - she still has an ample bosom I think; but it should kinda be realistic, right?
- In similar matter: Slightly increased her shoulder and arm volumina to justify her being a well trained, strong musketeer.
- Fixed a bunch of clipping errors (esp. during animations), mainly with her teeth and parts of her hair + tail.
- Got rid of the "Ryona tail" of the base cars and used a "fox tail" instead (both Koikatsu naming). No idea why the creator of the base card would use the Ryona; it has way less of the characteristics of Wanda's tail shown in the Anime.
The model coming out of this, is what you can see in the posts I shared above.
Finally, what I intend to do with it in the (near) future:
- Fine-tuning / scaling of some more parts of her body.
- Playing around a bit more with Chara Studio and it's capabilities, creating more scenes; maybe even short animations with her.
- (If anyone has ideas / inspirations, feel free to hit me up via PN)
- Improving her body texture; 2 goals: a) little more realistic skin b) maybe fur shaders, if Chara even supports this (I believe no)
- (Maybe: Sulong Version)
- (Way later: Have it render in a proper Engine which supports High Res Textures and State-of-the-Art Shaders)
Happy to hear some thoughts on this all! Feel free to comment.
