Hectic Life Update and In-Stream commissions:
Hey all, hope you all have been having a good summer/week/day!
First off, I'd like to thank all the new watchers I've seen over the past few weeks. I've been super busy and just burnt out from flight instructing that I don't have the energy to personally send my thanks. I assure you that I have looked at each of your pages and am greatly appreciative that you decided to watch me during this period of low activity!
As for my current situation:
Its been a roller coaster ride in not necessarily the good way. To put it simply: I'm loving what I'm doing, but I feel so lot due to having very little guidance on WTF I need to be doing exactly. I'm finding out things as they're told to me/do something wrong, some procedures seem to randomly get flip-flopped, I'm not compensated for the time I come in early to make sure the aircraft I'll be using is good to go... Some of the other aspects like skipped lunches are unfortunately just part of the nature of this job that I was already expecting. I just wasn't expecting to be primarily stuck on weekends with dry weekdays (some weeks I drive 3 hours round trip to get paid for around 1 hour of flying). It really is demoralizing to know that my earnings that day just went to lunch and gas for the day. Just a few days ago, I finally found out what true burnout can look/feel like and it was scary. I'm glad I have a few days off to reset.
On the upside, my coworkers are all in the same boat, so we can all vent stress together once in a while when we all share a bit of down time. I'm getting paid to build time, and I really do enjoy helping people achieve their goal of become a helicopter pilot. :)
I'm also starting to hear back from some permanent NPS job opportunities. If I find that I might not be a good fit, then no problem! Sounds like October is going to be the start of the busier season postings!
As for art:
As much as I would like to open up big for regular commissions (I could definitely use this as a side hustle), I sadly have to hold off on going all out with advertising. The fact that whether or not my day off will be on a Wednesday, or a Monday, or if I'll even have one day off at all is constantly changing on a daily basis due to the nature of this job. I don't have a known day/time where I can sit down and really work on a big piece of art.
If you are fine with potentially having at least a month turnover time on the detailed stuff, I'll be more than happy to take a commission. As usual, I won't request payment until you and I are ready to get started on the piece. Slots will be very limited though. Thinking about posting a separate journal specifically for those that would like something to express their interest and pitch their idea(s). :)
I may also consider going the way of in stream sketch/experimental-type of commissions. The latter might work on a PWYW model.
Depending on what I have left to do on my backlog of personal things, I may be doing a small stream later this afternoon (EST) and/or tonight. Keep an eye out! :D
If you've managed to read this far:
Thanks for reading my stress relief blowout! I'm hoping to find my flow again and start producing art again! :D
Stay safe, wash your hands, don't run with scissors, and stay away from the tail rotor!
