Life Update: Post Move

It went about as well as I expected. The movers were late because they showed up at the wrong house. My mom lied after telling me that she would switch work days to be here during the move so she could guide them as to where she wanted everything. Instead she left behind a bunch of vague sticky notes I was just supposed to understand such as "dresser" and "ugly dresser" as if I know what the hell the difference is. My dad also stayed behind at the old house to """clean it up""" cuz as we all know the best time to clean a place is right when movers are lifting and shifting everything. Therefore, I was left by myself to guide the movers. Not that I'm incapable of giving orders or taking charge, but I literally had no idea where they were supposed to place everything. It's not MY shit. What was even more infuriating is that my dad and I had a fight a couple nights right before moving day in which he screamed, "IT'S NOT YOUR FUCKING HOUSE!" at me because I was trying to get the keys from the landlord, but he wanted to do it because he's the big strong man of the house. Just a reminder that your parents will NEVER EVER see you as equals. YOU are the child, THEY are the adult. Yet at the same time, I'm also supposed to know where all these things that don't belong to me are going in a house that will never be mine. Okay.
The movers finished at around 11:30pm. My mom got home at around 8pm to tell me what a terrible job the movers did not putting anything in the right place, which really means that "I" put them in the wrong place. My dads tools were also stacked wrong which caused him to throw a baby tantrum which reminded me of how much of a grown adult he is. I also found out later that the movers told him that we did too much prep work as the price that I was quoted at $1800.00 was solely based on everything they saw that was unpacked. I guess they gladly would have packed up all our shit too? With that being said, I was hoping they'd bring down the price a bit, but no... quite the opposite. Because I wanted to pay with a credit card, it was a 6% increase bringing the final price to $1908.00 which I payed in full. They forgot their clipboard, so I didn't even get a physical copy for my records. I then asked if I could get an email confirmation that they gladly sent... in Spanish. I do not speak Spanish. They then proceeded to send me four copies of the same confirmation, all in Spanish. By the fifth copy I said forget it.
I'd say it was at least worth not having to carry anything upstairs as merely walking upstairs is quite a chore now. I haven't lived in a house with stairs in over 18 years now. When I was a kid, stairs were fun because I had limitless energy. As a cynical adult with back, neck, and foot problems though... it's rough. Now that the dust has settled and I'm officially done setting up my room (for now) I can say that things will eventually get back to normal soon. We still have a ton of unpacking to do though so not looking forward to that. I also haven't drawn anything new since the last Splatoon picture. Art needs to start picking up as I'm starting to get withdrawals and it's almost October. Gotta get some spooky stuff in!
Happy painting.
