Important information about a deleted post!

I found out today that the commissioner of one of my commission ref sheet orders has not received permission to use the reference he gave for "his" character. The character in the art in question was therefore not originally created by the commissioner himself, but stole the appearance of the character from another creator with small changes. Because of this, I have removed the shared posts from this commission work and I will also do the same for the badge he ordered in the next few days.
Soo, what happened?
As my followers know, I did a commissioned work for now an unnamed person less than a year ago, which I shared here and on deviantart. I received a ref sheet order from him that he would like a new ref sheet for "his" new fursona and had shown "old" ref sheet art of which fursona he would like to have with updates. Before today, I didn't get any information about who had made this original "old" ref sheet and had only said that he had received permission from someone to use this ref. I made a big mistake and I hadn't checked that fact carefully in the beginning, but I went too blue-eyed at him. He was then a new person in the Finnish furry fandom and I didn't think much more about it.
I placed that art for him, but there was also another problem here. He hadn't paid anything for the art after receiving it, and I hadn't heard about the money after that, even though I had constantly messaged him about it. He often had some reason why he hadn't paid for his order and had even ordered another art from me, saying that he would pay for both at the same time, but this did not happen. He basically kept putting off his payment longer and longer. Only after half a year, when I started to insist on paying for the commissions, he finally paid for the commissions. After this, I have had little contact with him, only in the Finnish discord group that my friend and I maintained, and of course at various conventions.
Then we come to the beginning of the autumn, through which there was very aggravating information about him and what he has done, such as cheating and grooming, because of which he has now left the furry fandom. And today I found out from his fursuit maker that the reference ref sheet's fursona in question is owned by WildBitesBack on instagram and when I asked them about this, they confirmed that they had not given permission at all to use the ref. This was already a very hard fact to hear. I have now talked to them about this and I have sent them an apology for this matter. I am now grateful that this was brought to my attention and now I can really hold myself back and always check the permissions of references on commissioners especially if it is about a new fursona or oc ref sheets.
Here is Wild's twitter post about this case
Give them love, they are a great person and I am very sad that I only heard about them yesterday 💔
End conclusion
This taught a lot of important things that everyone should remember. I made a mistake in that I hadn't even thought to ask more about the origin of the reference and whether he had received permission for it. However, I am relieved that I even now became aware of this and that this is the first and now the last time that this has happened. If you are an artist, a content creator, a commissioner or just a basic trampler, remember that you should never copy, steal or own art, characters or any creative work that is not your own and always ask the creators for permission to use the works! Respect each other and don't let selfish people and other butt people take advantage of people like this. Love u all ❤
