Laid Off
So as of this morning I am unemployed. I got a really nice severance package due to my time there and my performance, but it means I've got a little borrowed time to figure out what I want to do.
I would like to leave security all together if possible, but would rather work security than go back to customer service jobs (while more dangerous it's a lot more satisfying to have the ability to tell someone to fuck off when they get in your face instead of having to kiss their ass). I would like to try my hand at commission work. But there's so many problems with that I'm not sure it's something that would work for me.
What this means for any of you?
Immediately: I'm probably going to take about a week to step back, see the assets I have, cut some spending, and come up with a game plan.
Short term: with more time on my hands I'm going to focus fully on getting my long overdue raffle winners their 3d models.
Long term: I think I may try to open some basic commissions, probably at a reduced cost than I would need to make a living. Even if it's not enough, it should help me gain some float money and test the waters. Then I can hopefully have enough experience to know if I can commit to art as a job, or if I need to find a full time job elsewhere.
Any advice for pretty much doing freelance 3d modeling and animation anyone has, I would appreciate.
