... college and university professors are intelligent you may wish to reassess that. Apparently 12-15 University professors glued themselves to the floor in a large Porsche dealership in protest.
I suspect said professors were expecting the dealership to call the authorities to have them removed. After all Volkswagen agreed that they had the right to protest. So what were the professors protesting about? They are protesting for the decarbonization of the transportation system in Germany. Some are on a hunger strike as well. I have an idea... more later.
So what did Volkswagen do? Nothing, no authorities were called... they just left the protesters on the floor as they turned off the heat and locked the building.
It would seem the protesters had no exit plan on their table, they were expecting someone else to come up with a solution to their acts of vandalism of gluing themselves to the floor. Of course there's irony to be found here as professors protesting complained that Volkswagen was doing nothing to help with their protest.
Myself I would lock up the building and send everyone on a three-day holiday and just let the over educated, full of themselves morons stay there. I might offer them a dull hacksaw blade so they could cut themselves loose. After all they made the situation they're in so it's up to them to figure out how to get out of it.

I have found just because someone has a college degree doesn't mean they're overly intelligent... I've also worked with people with no college that were very intelligent and well read.
That's the solid truth! Takes all sort of folks and there is a lot of different types of smart, knowledge, and skills.
Some folks are foolish, others we think are wise. Its rather willy nilly to find wise folks stupid and silly people wise.
Please, where is the astroid when you need one to clean the gene pool?

What a bunch of losers. If I was on the board of their schools, I would work to deny or repeal their tenure.
Most professors I know are highly intelligent but lack basic common sense.

Things like this give me the impression that the human race is edging closer and closer to the world described by H.G. Wells from "The Time Mahine" with the Eloi and the Morlocks.
From glacial ice samples they know the CO2 level has been higher than what it is now three and four hundred years ago by double... CO2 is not the problem, CO or carbon monoxide is a greater problem. But the biggest greenhouse gas is hydrogen dioxide AKA water vapor.
