General
The 3d printable designers out there didn't let me down this month.
Tagged as both a basilisk and a cockatrice (I get it, I really do) from KLTStudio. Has a few chicken buddies to run with if you look closely at the feet!
A bit more confusingly titled as "Huge Chicken Lizard Hybrid / Bird Bat Beast", this is from Epic-Miniatures. Standing on part of a tree branch or log, looking angry! The designer has a Patreon too if you are looking for more miniatures.
A fellow who either has a strange paint job or...other issues, from Wizkids/Paizo Publishing. That mouth...
This is more for 3d modeling in a digital environment like a game than for printing: made by KRAQSS.
A nice model available for printing on demand, then shipped to you! C27 Studio is one of many creators whose work can be purchased from TableTopXtra.
If you're near Sacramento, there's an event that the zoo that might be interesting. I spotted an article and went to the zoo's site and found more details but unfortunately no pictures of the "deadly gazes of the basilisk and the cockatrice." Well, maybe that's for the best! I suppose there might be some general interest in the dragons, too, for whatever reason.
More research for scholars of antiquity and the scriptures:
Oh woe is me there's a weasel on me from A Newcomer's Guide to Bestiaries. Medieval artwork in all its splendor.
Simple hits on a search engine for the King James version. Isaiah had a lot to say about cockatrices; I think Jeremiah started to pick up the torch but got distracted. Maybe being thrown in the well of mud as a step too far?
Interesting Creatures List probably compiled by someone who wishes they could relive the glory days of Sunday School. I feel ripped off about the clip art they used for the most interesting entry, and the fact that it's only at number 5? Hmmph.
10 Oldest Monster Myths puts basilisks at number 4, and it comes with an instructional video! Sounds like they put in the time for their research. I hope the other entries are as detailed but I'll let experts on those myths take over on checking for me.
Financial world news...sort of. I can't help but watch updates on Kraken and one of its assets: Basilisk (BSX) – Basilisk is “a Kusama-based liquidity protocol parachain that enables participants to trade any two cryptocurrencies.” Basilisk is “a cross-chain protocol, allowing it to communicate with other networks like Ethereum, Bitcoin and Polkadot.” So...give us your money?
BSX was $0.000036 as of Monday, Oct 17. Less than a cent of a cent...today (Nov. 1) it's reported at $.0001261 which honestly...is a lot of growth! If you had money invested in it.
