* Currently inking Saethwr's commish. Should be done... well, I guess it depends on the inspiration, I guess. Then I will start work on the final EF request for Drayygon; later on I'll post a Poser render I made to help me visualize his idea. Then the slate will be more or less clean for the batch of $10 sketches. Details will follow.

* Part three of "A Path of Thunder" will be posted in about a week or two. It is mostly written during my breaks at work, and just needs some polishing. The "sexiness" of the first two chapters will take a backseat this time, as I am giving more exposure to the thoughts of Grell and Darkthunder. There is a combat scene and several sexual innuendos, though.

* I found recently some pages of one of my earliest comic book ideas, and I thought I would post a couple of them once I make time to do so. It was never finished, so I would not be able to share the whole thing. Plus, the pages went through some accident (no, it is nothing naughty) that ended up ruining the bottom part of them with some black stains due to mold. :P While it is not one of my best concepts (the idea makes me cringe somewhat nowadays), I used some rather bold panel layouts that I still like, yet I was never able to replicate. I was really inspired back then.

Finally got Win7 running on three computers -- the main desktop has Pro, and the laptop and the older desktop have Home Premium. Along the way, hair and scales were pulled because both Adobe CS4 and Firefox are two mean bitches -- the latter has a fucking bug (which I have reported to Mozilla at least twice) and I had to do some changes and restores from HD images in order to get things like I wanted.

BTW, if you use Winamp with Win7, be sure to check a plugin that integrates Winamp to the taskbar, adding files to the Jump List, along with some neat effects like having the icon in the Taskbar turn progressively green as a song advances, and playback controls to the Taskbar preview. I need to collect money to buy two 1.5TB hard drives for that older computer so I can set them in RAID0 and convert all my DVDs and CDs for a home theatre PC. Hence the $10 sketch thingie I'm planning.

I'm a little puzzled about why you'd put a pair of 1.5s in RAID0 for, of all things, an HTPC. Unless I'm seriously misunderstanding what you're trying to do, that sounds like the absolute worst thing you could do. A single 1.5 should be able to dish out data muuuch much faster than you'll need for media playback, so why further decrease reliability and flexibility by striping?

I want a single volume to hold all the DVDs in my collection, if I rip them and save to the computer. I read somewhere that RAID0 can dispense data faster, since it would be reading two discs at the same time.

Well yeah, it can certainly read faster, but even a single 1.5 should be able to sustain 60 MB/sec+ even when it's nearly full, with bursts up to 150 MB/sec range in more optimal situations. A single 750 or 1500 GB drive will be able to write much faster than you can rip DVDs and read much faster than the program will need the data, so what's the point of adding in the risk? I mean, if one drive goes, all your data is gone. If all you need is a single storage pool, you could use JBOD (or a software implementation like a Windows Home Server box--from use I can recommend this, Sepf and I have over 8 TB of audio/video content on our server with optional file redundancy, hot-swappable drives and expandable storage).

That sounds more complicated -- and certainly expensive -- than a dumb crocodile can understand and afford.

I figured it'd be decent for your purposes because I thought I remembered you having a number of older systems sitting around, and as long as you've got a processor in the GHz range with DDR1, it can easily be converted into a WHS box--you just need to buy the license, which is like $95 I think. It's designed to be easy to set up and maintain, and if you can figure out how to triple-boot I'm certain you could deal with the simple-as-Windows-7 installation.

Still, even if that's beyond your needs, desires, financial reach, etc... I'd still recommend JBOD over RAID0. Magnetic drives WILL die, be it the first week you use them or 3 years later. RAID0 on your data drives just means that if one drive dies, everything is totally shot. That might not be a huge problem if you can just just re-rip from DVDs, but it's certainly going to be more work, more risk, and if you don't need the performance gain, there's not much point to it.

We can talk on Yahoo if you want. I'm just speaking from experience. Of course you can do whatever you think is best, I'm only trying to provide tips where I think I can help ^^'
