Yeah, those things can be annoying at times. I would click all the images that has "traffic lights" or "lions" in them, and then I'd do it again without it telling me if I had clicked correctly or not.

I seriously hate these things. OK, I could live with simple "enter these two words" or "solve this math equation", but as soon as they add distortion into it, the probability of it being too much gets very high. Is that weird thing there supposed to be a "w"? Could very much "N" with too much distortion, or two "r" too close together, too bad the wanted word are just random characters... or these captchas with the crazy backgrounds who do a way too good job to blend everything into a blurry mess that make you think you got a color blindness. For those with less than perfect eyesight this could be enough to bite into the computer screen...

And don't get me started on these picture-based captchas "click all the tiles with a street light in it", does this mean the whole light post, including the foundation and the mast, or is it just the light bulb itself? Because most of the time I guessed wrong, not helping that they seem to change their own definition with every new picture. Or was that single pixel in the background considered a street light, too? It's too bad they never told what they considered a correct answer in the first place... Same with all these "find all the pics with object 'X' in it", if only they would use clear, distinctive photos to choose from, not blurry, vague pics of something that could be either 'X' or maybe a jpeg artifact. Haha, you had to find all photos with cats in it, but that one wasn't a cat but a black dog. Too bad, robot... w..t..f..???

The reason these image captchas exist, and why they are getting harder and mor annoying, is because they are being used to train AI's in image recognition. and once AI's are able to recognize images well enough to answer the captchas themselves, then they need to come up with even MORE convoluted and finicky ones to keep the bots out.

It's an endless arms race.

And it's the Humans who loose.

The ones you can live with are not simply useless, they are worse than useless: Computers have been better than humans at doing them for years.

The tile/selection of image ones don't tell you what you got wrong because that would be training data for image recognition software. (JSYK, at least some of those you get are not checking you, but checking the image against what something it has already determined to be a human thinks.)

but yeah, mood... they're pretty lenient on logging into FA at least, but the ones on certain sites that I have to use for work, if wifi is good enough they'll be lenient, but when the connection is slow, they basically don't let you in, ever, which is... odd

I hate when like you're supposed to pick stoplights or something and the very CORNER of one is in an otherwise vacant box.
