Looking for new Patreon reward ideas.
Hey guys! Been a while since I made a journal.
I'm happy to report my health has seen some great progress during this fall season. My doctor put me under some new blood pressure medications and that's worked a lot towards restoring my energy and focus. October even saw me writing a higher word count than any other month in this past year. With this renewed productivity also brought back my desire to really make Patreon (and writing in general) more my main job than the dumb deli.
So as the title says; I'm trying to think of things I can do to offer more rewards, maybe even more pledge tiers. Stories are a bit harder to sort out than art or even videos. And I'm curious is there anything you guys might be interested in for rewards?
One idea I saw a fellow writer doing that I'd like to try is a crowdfunding tier. I've had tons of ideas for one shots and serial stories collected over the years. Under this tier there would be a small list of prompts that people could pledge 1,000 words towards every month, for somewhere between $20-$30. Be another option to support content you wish to see more of.
A few years back I also tried a 'vote as we go' kind of TF story that was pretty fun. I was working full time back then though, which made it impossible to keep up with. Now that I'm a bit more freed up I wouldn't mind trying again. Might be a good extra value for the $5 or $10 tier.
Those are just ideas I could come up with. I welcome anyone else's thoughts and suggestions.
Once again thank you everyone for the amazing support. I hope this holiday season finds you in good health and turned into a form you enjoy. :3

As for Patreon reward ideas, I like the suggestions you put out; the crowdfunding tier sounds especially interesting (and something I now want to look into--can you link me to the person who's doing that?). As someone who does Patreon stories whose content is decided by voting, I can confirm that "vote as we go" tales are both fun and viable, even on a more intense workload (like the one I had from early 2020 to late 2021). I hope you'll give them another try!
As for other tiers, here are my suggestions:
--Would you want to try commission tiers? That's something I do on Patreon, and I've found it to be great, especially for those who want to get stories from you on a regular basis. If you're worried about the workload becoming too much, then you can limit the tier by only allowing a few people to get it.
--In the the vein of commission tiers: since you specialize in TF, perhaps offering a tier that gives a supporter a TF microfic would be a good option? Perhaps 150 words at the $15 tier?
--It could be beneficial to split some rewards you have now from lower tiers and relocate them to higher ones? The commission discount, for example.
--If you feel ready to do so, you could offer writing guidance as a tier. Perhaps one level for written input, and another for a Discord call or the like. Of course, limit the amount of words you will help the patron with, or put higher word counts at higher tiers.
That's all I can think of at the moment. I'd be happy to help brainstorm more if you'd like! You can always Note me here, though a Twitter DM ace_tasty is also an option.
Good luck! Lmk if you have any questions.
The writer I've gotten inspiration from is
Commission tiers have always been an option, but I've honestly been holding out as more of a last resort kind of thing after some bad experiences. I tried them when I first opened Patreon and once my deli job started screwing me over found it impossible to keep up with and I still feel bad about it. Things are probably better now that I'm being honored as part-time. Though the other issue was that despite advertising as a TF writer with other themes, I sometimes got really unhinged requests that left me a bit shaken.
Microfics is definitely a good idea! I've been really leaning on getting shorter works because the extra planning, plotting, and editing for longer projects isn't sustainable for my current situation of bills vs. backlog. Or at least I haven't found a pricing model for it yet.
I've also been thinking about giving CYOA games in Twine a go again! If you're ever up for it, I'd love some advice on those. Trying to learn Harlowe code feels like witchcraft XD;;
Thanks so much for the ideas.
Cool! I'll have to check him out!
Gotcha! Yeah, commission tiers can be hit or miss, it depends on the writer. I'm sorry you got some shitty requests from that--that's terrible! :,C
Thanks! What kind of pricing model are you trying to create?
Hey, that's fantastic! :D I'd love to see you make Twine games! Just know that I am familiar with Harlowe, but I specialize in the Sugarcube format. Both appeal to folks in different ways, but I find Sugarcube helpful because html & CSS code can be brought to it without issue. Harlowe does have its upsides though, especially the text editor that Twine has specifically for it. I'd be happy to advise where I can; feel free to message me and we can discuss it further!
You're very welcome! <3
