Ratchet & Clank 20th Anniversary
I know that Ratchet & Clank's 20th Anniversary was on November 4th. But since it was November when they came out I'm calling November Ratchet and Clank mouth. So for are favorite Lombax and robot backpack, I’m going to tell my history with R&C and the impact that it had on me.
I first come across Ratchet and Clank Back in early 2002 I was playing a few games on my PS2 when I played an old PS2 that had few new game in demo form and one of them was Ratchet and Clank with was the demo of Metropolis which was way cool. The city landscape and the train at the end of it. It was very cool. My favorite moment in the demo was the conversation between Ratchet, Clank and robot Qwark. Dear god, That still so funny 20 years later. Then around December of the same year I got Ratchet & Clank for the PS2. I loved playing it. It was an amazing platformer and shooter. I will be honest i never beat it like 100% But I did get far in it. I did complete it later on, I’ll get to that later.
Sp fast forward to say, I want to say 2006 or 07. My mom and I were looking at a GameStop in a city (I won’t give the name case like everybody else, I to be Anonymous with where I live) and at one point I saw a new game called Ratchet Deadlocked. Bear in mind I stopped playing R&C after a while so I never heard of Going Commando and Up Your Arsenal till much later. I played Deadlocked and I liked it. It was like a mix of Ratchet & Clank and Halo. Back when I was kid, I played the PS2 and a Halo theme original Xbox. So I’m both a R&C and Halo guy. No disrespect to Black Ops fans but I never grew up with these games. Much like Ratchet & Clank 2002. I played it for a while and then moved on from it. By the mid 2010’s I got out of console gaming in favor of PC gaming at the time I thought with PC you could play everything. Boy was 23 years old me was wrong.
That's one reason why I’m more a casual gamer and not a full on gamer, Because at this point in time I’m way behind on the times and I don’t have the money, interest or care to catch up. So I just stuck with a Gaming Laptop. Now every now and then I see R&C pop every now and then and it's great to see something from my early days of gaming still going strong.
So fast forward to early 2022 around the time the Covid sacmdemic starting to end (for some states) I came across a new game called Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart. Right when I saw that my spark for Ratchet & Clank fired back up. But it was around the time when console games became haft gaming consoles, Haft computers and became very very expensive. But around that time I watched a few videos about games play, R&C History, Pros and cons, Fan base and much more. It was around that time (and please don't be angry with me) I got that 2016 reimagining of R&C. And yes I've seen the movie and to me its ok it has its moments but it could have been better. Then it drive me to try and fine if R&C Rift Apart had a PC version witch as of this time doesn't (Yet as far as i know) Then I thought what if there was a way i could play the PS2 version of R&C and then that when I found PCSX2, It's a PS2 emulator program that allows you to play PS2 games on your PC.
At the present time I have Ratchet & Clank; (2002) (Going Commando) (Up Your Arsenal) and (Deadlocked) I just completed 2002 and boy it feels great to finally complete it after so long and then I’ll play the other 3 and see why fans love them so much. I don’t know if I’ll play the PS3 titles also known as the R&C Future Saga. But from what I heard it's mixed to say the least. I’ve only seen pits and bobs of it with characters like Azimuth and Ratchet's girlfriend Tawlyn. But I still need to learn more.
But I think I’ll leave it right there for now.
So that is my story of how a Lombax and robotic backpack became part of my life and left a big impact on me and it's great to be resonated with 2 old friends.
And what is your Ratchet & Clank story?
Who's your favorite character?
Did you discover R&C early or later down the road?
What game in R&C do you think is the best and worst of the series?
Whatever your story is let me know in the comments. I asked you all to be Civil, Respectful and keep an open mind. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I’m entitled to mine, You're entitled to yours.
So to rap this all up with a nice bow on top. Happy 2oth Birthday Ratchet and Clank. Here to more crazy space shooting and platforming madness in the future.
