Need some help with a new graphic tablet
I'm thinking about buying a new graphic tablet soon since I figured out that it's getting time to retire that tiny old Wacom Graphire3-Tablet which I've been using since 2004. The question is: which one should I buy? oO I think I'll go for a Wacom-Tablet again but at the moment I have absolutely no clue what type of tablet (Graphire or Intuos) or what size it should be.
Does it actually make sense to spend like 250-500 bucks on one of the larger ones? Or would that be a waste of money since buying a larger tablet doesn't really improve your drawing-efficiency? I have no idea since so far the only ones I've ever been had an active area of less than 4x5.
Would be great to hear some of your opinions since I'm completely at a loss here. ^^

Oh, and if you have a wide-screen monitor, there is a widescreen model of the intuos available too.
I thought that I could use some hockey tape for the graphire pen but since the tablet was so small too I sold it and got the 6x8... Imho that's the best alternative to judge if you need a bigger one: if you feel cramped and you'd like to use bigger strokes, get a bigger one :> And there's no reason to go cheap with the tools you use a lot, you just end up getting up an arthritis to your wrist... no money can buy you a new set of wrists, or eyes or anything.
I've always drawn small, so the smaller tablets don't bother me at all.
some people told me intuous is better than graphire
My only problem with tablets in general is that they can't be maneuvered and manipulated the same as paper, which is why I'm probably going back to sketching/inking traditionally.
I love my tablet though for coloring and what not. Its so nice. And, unless you have to draw really big, I don't see the need for a larger tablet ;]
2. Yes, a bigger tablet is niiiiiiiice. Your hand doesn't get so cramped, a big surface area lets you draw with your whole arm (which is the way I was taught way back when) instead of just making tiny motions with the wrist.
I have a 9"x12" Intuos 3. <3 :)
