the bad and good from yesterday
thank you everyone for the responses, I really appreciate your concern and well wishes on this, a most assy of occasions. Let it be known that I am looking for a job and since I live in a tourist town I might be able to at least find something seasonal.
THE SHITTY:
As for questions as to the lost job, I was working at Books a Million at the time and my general manager decided to pull some shit because it was pretty evident that she did not like me at all. I worked in the cafe and when our cafe manager moved on to bigger and better things (she was a pretty stand up lady even if she was a little strict. she picked up cool junk for us at yardsales and I went to her son's wedding. also she hated the general manager like burning) we were left without anyone to handle the cafe orders and such. I did not want the job because I was told I would get no raise for taking on more work. Then the job was given to another girl, along with a shiny new raise, who had been there for much much less time than I. I was fine with this because at least I wouldn't have to deal with the general manager breathing down my throat, as she had a habit of treating me like I was an idiot, a thief, or a freak (I can not tell you how many times she made fun of my clothes or called me a weirdo because I'm not very talkative). There was even an instance where she called me a gossiping sinner (exact words) because I told another cafe girl (who needed to know because it was her problem too) how the new girl had messed up the slushy machine and how to fix it. I was eventually canned because it seems I took off 3 sickdays this year without doctor's excuses (one was a CAR CRASH) she had been literally counting every minute I was late for months (along with watching me run register from behind shelves and checking my sales on the store computer to make sure I wasn't giving people free coffees or something idk, I wasn't) and said that I was unreliable. Also I was bad at selling the discount cards but instead of having me run bookstore like she did with other people who were bad at selling cards in cafe, she just super cut my hours so my fulltime status was destroyed. Sadly the thing she said that hurt me the most was that she thought I was spiteful (because I'm quiet and don't like ass-kissing) and not as good at my job as I thought I was. First of all, I might have not been a ray of sunshine, but I tried to be nice and polite to everyone I came in contact with and help them to the best of my advantage. be it running to the store for a co-worker or just sitting and listening to one of our millions of old people who came in for company. I tried to be Disney-sweet to the doucheiest of douche bags and made sure everything was super clean and fresh in that cafe. And unlike her, I used gloves when handling food instead of just USING YOUR HANDS TOUCHING THE FOOD GOOD GOD RAGERAGERAGE RED LANTERN POWERS ACTIVATE.
TL;DR: when my old boss left, my new boss hated me and fired me for trivial shit. baawww and rage.
now I have no job. I will probably be filing for unemployment tomorrow. I live with my parents so I'm not out of a home or anything but we're not a very well off family so I'm gonna miss helping out money-wise. But everyone don't worry about me, at least she didn't fire me on my birthday (close though, if she would have waited just 10 more days to drop the ax it would have been the worst) also, a really cool thing happened.
THE AWESOME:
See, when I got home all sad last night we found a tiny black kitten in our driveway. upon closer inspection his face was just ruined, his front legs were rubbed raw of fur, his right eye was popping out of it's socket, the left was glued closed, and his entire face was covered in horrible pus. he was so skinny he didn't even have a fat kitten belly.
he was as sweet as apple pie. didn't bite or scratch or run away or anything. all purrs. we immediately loved him.
we put him in a box and started to call around to see if anyone would see him so late, everything was closed. He took a nap on a blanket while we tried to keep our girl cat from trying to clean him herself.
even though we were already thinking up names for him (I wanted to name him Jonah Hex IT IS PERFECT), my father said that with 3 pets already an me just losing my job that it would be impossible to get him the care he needed and that we couldn't keep him. So my sisters and I started calling around to see if anyone could board him for the night.
well it just so happened that one of my littlest sister's friends is a cat lady in the body of a 16 year old boy and when she put a bulletin on Facebook about the kitty he said he'd take him. When she arrived at his house with the kitten however she got a real shock when some of the people we had called and everyone in our neighborhood with facebook showed up with food, blankets, toys, and even a cat house for the little guy(she said she cried like crazy when this happened). To top that, his new foster family fell in love with the him, crazy face and all, and he will now be living the high life as the rich kitty of a theater family :D
also they cleaned off his face and the other eye is just fine. The popped out one will have to be removed though :c
His new name is Phantom, because they were watching Phantom of the Opera when my sister got there and when they put him on the floor they noticed that he strutted and meowed right along with the phantom's parts :D
SUCH A FREAKING CHARMING KITTY.
Also, they found a program in town called The Noah Project, that fixes up any stray you find for free if you promise to adopt it afterward :DDDD
and this all happened in 4 hours. his life went from horrible to full of love and happiness in 4 hours.
I gotta tell you, it gave me a lot of hope for myself.
I think I'm gonna put commission prices up real soon. I feel like getting back in the saddle.

FA+

I wasn't aware of your birthday! Happy late birthday I guess.
also my birthday isn't here yet silly. I said if she had waited 10 more days c:
He's my little buddy to this day. and I can tell he hasn't forgotten the one who got him the things he needed. Also my father was a big part of it to. he told my mom that if they took him to the pound they put him down, but this mange didn't look like the virus one. and he was right..lol thank god my dad lived on a farm for the first 19 years of this life.
I'll be taking a commission BTW when you get prices up. I know it sucks to lose a job this time of year most of all
yay strays!
The epic rag to riches tale of a black kitten who showed the world that it is ok to be half-blind and kind.
"THE KITTEN OF THE OPERA" - In Theaters This July.
That reminded me of when my family took in 2 white kitten my neighbors didn't care for at all. They got into our house because they smelled the chicken my mom was making and they must of been very hungry. So cute but so skinny. We loved them and made them have kitten fat in no time.
as for kittens, how can you NOT care for a kitten? it puzzles me. My mom would flip if she heard one of our pet's stomachs growling.
nothing is better than roly poly happy kittens.
She sounds like the sort of person that if you didn't need the money you'd make clever insults to whenever you got the chance.
I do hope everything works out for you and you find a source of income with no mean attached ;D
Kittens have the faces that make you think "Why aren't you in my house? I am committing a sin for not having you in my house." Which sucks because my neighborhood is full of them.
You can poke them and have them purr and have good times all 'round!
Sleepy kittens that are trying to sneakily steal chicken is the cutest thing you will ever see.
But oh god the kitty story. Makes me want to go out and squeeze my fat priss of a car Kisa. She to was a stray kitten I found in a gutter like two days from death and coated in fleas. I <3 my little crippled princess. Even though she's a total ice queen when ever I'm feeling in a snuggle mood, and when I'm trying to do something she's all up in my face.
And commissions oooo. :O I could prolly help you out there. Eagerly awaits prices~
And im glad the kitten found a good home and someone that actually cared found him/her (Namely you)
We are all different dear, and you will find a place where you can fit in im sure, just keep being your self and dont let the haters get you down. As i said, in the end they all get whats coming to them in one way or another <3
I shall keep my head up. haters will indeed hate.
goodluck tho, hopefully you can find a job that isnt run by ass-hats. and congrats on the kitten! :D
here's hoping she gets reamed!
Im sure they will offer you your job back after looking into it, and be sure not to leave out details about how awful she was to you! you sounded like a good employee!
sounds like an adorable kitty.
and he was quite adorable c:
and don't forget to look into unemployment. O.o if you had full-time status, it may be an option for you.
You are such an awesome person. I'm at a loss of words right now.
sorry I made you rage.
And yes, you are all kinds of awesome.
Don't get me started about the boss I had at the local health-food-and-grocery's deli. I quit because I found a better job and I posted this <http://www.explodingdog.com/title/i.....mdoing.html> on the deli wall on my last day. It is an accurate description.
if only I could sneak this comic back into the store. but I have a feeling I never really want to go back there.
Saving kittens cancels District Manager. It's good to hear that there are people left in the world who will still help even in times of hardships.
I can't commission you, but I'll certainly pass your name around.
Retail in general is just a gawd awful, souless industry. It makes the even more cheerful optimistic people mean and nasty. I know exactly where you are coming from, for I live in a tourist dependent city, and I really don't smile all the often at my job. But that really doesn't mean that we can't do our job just as good OR EVEN BETTER than the smirkin slack jaw'ed nit wits.
/nerd raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaage
K, enough of my raging. You're way much better off anyways. :)
good times.
I plan on going down to the local comic book shop tomorrow and begging for a job. at least I'll be happier AND I'll get to work with books that don't have frowny douchebags on the cover or get torn up and spread on bathroom floors (if you want the porn just steal it, don't leave it here covered with mystery fluids or rip it up and stuff it in the toilets):c
At least now you have room to find a job you really like, or at least one with a better manager XD
OMG that kitten story is the cutest thing I've heard all day.
Its like he went from being a pauper to being a prince in a single day! :D
And that is SUCH wonderful news about that sweet little kitten! How wonderful that you and your family not only were so kind and loving but that you were able to find someone who will take excellent care of him and that you have so many people in your life who care that much. That's incredibly awesome to have in your life!
Good luck job hunting!
