I've seen several announce openings with both a journal and a post. But just a journal can usually suffice. And you can edit the journal to keep track of how many slots have been filled.

Some announce it via submission, others make a journal. Usually when they open, some ask us to note them for a slot while others ask you to comment below with ref sheets where they can then pick and choose from the comments.

When I open commissions, I announce it via a journal, yes. I also have my commission prices posted as an always-available post, which I've personally pinned to my profile (but the Commission tab on a user profile can also accomplish a similar task)

For what I've seen, it's usually done via a post, where you announce your prices, do's and don'ts. But a journal also helps too when you want people to know when you open them!

Journal and Submission posting are the most reliable methods. I like to post a price sheet separately and link to it on my Profile (you can use the [url =<link, no spaces>] TEXT [/url] syntax to hyperlink via text to things), such as checking my sheet.

I usually post an announcement separately as just having the information posted is often not going to independently attract attention. FA like other sites is dependent on you periodically reminding people to commission you, so make use of slots and other techniques, and utilize the Notes system for correspondence -- or Google Forms maybe if you're that kind of feller.

Usually we do both anounce EVERYWHERE, post here, Journal, or even twitter post since most use twitter as an advertisement site to share their stuff
