I honestly fail to see the problem with the FA makeover. People just keep complaining because of a misguided and ignorant sense of rebellion, wanting to worship liberty & justice as if they are deities.

But at the same time they don't know how to do it. Polluting the internet with negativity just makes things worse; just look at how many boycotts people did for games, how many succeeded? Not a lot.
I'm more of a game person on this topic but I guess it's relevant: people were totally okay to jump on the hate bandwagon to demolish Metal Gear Survive, Fallout 76, and Wolfenstein Youngblood because of what they heard some big youtuber saying (usually people like YongYea). It usually goes as "they corrupted the franchise! they Ruined it! We must mercy kill it before people misremember it differently from the Elite we knew it as!"

I think you get my point. The funny thing is, the people who actively repeat that change "ruins" their favorite things, are usually the first who laugh at CoD and Ubisoft games keeping on repeating the same formula over and over, calling them inferior. It's kind of hypocritical.

A real example of a franchise being ruined in a careless and genuinely dystopian fashion, is GTA Definitive Edition, where they removed the ability to buy/own the 3D classics to force people to exclusively buy the new defective rerelease. In that case, trying to erase the past entries is bad, yes.

But ultimately, long as we remember the things we like, they aren't truly gone, and it's certainly not a dystopia. What I've learned over time is that taking too much of a look at negative flows online (namely Twitter in spades), ends with us seeing negativity everywhere. I pulled the plug on interacting on twitter long ago. I'm better off for it.

Do you need a green light signal on your car's dashboard to let you know everything is fine? No, you only see those related to problems. No lights means no problems. This applies IRL too. People who'd agree with you are there, always have, you just can't see them, they keep quiet, mostly because they're afraid of being called out for not joining the doomer squads. You really aren't all alone in this. If you keep your pent up anger about this private, then this is exactly what others who agreed with you already did as well. This is why you don't see them. Doesn't mean you are all alone :). It's very hard to gauge how many people just enjoy life, games, art, etc, because they don't bother going against the mob online.
