Updates and Such... 11/28/22
Here's just a simple update to say hello to you all and that I'm still around. For the most part not too much has changed on my end. Work is still taking up most of my time and energy. I know I mentioned a while ago how they still had me working several 12 hour shifts for days at a time. Thankfully the amount of overtime I'm doing has gone down.
Job hunting stuff:
Still aggravatingly no progress on that front. I really am stuck on what I should do differently. I'm not interested, or qualified for the various open positions on my current work. I also feel like I don't want to invest more of myself into the company. Stuff like LinkedIn and various job boards have given me mixed results (about as successful as asking for a job here). Most of the in person stuff I can think of have not really been feasible with my schedule.
Art stuff:
Really it's been just a struggle of when I have energy, I don't have the time. Then when I have the time, I don't have the energy or focus. There are a few random things I am slowly making progress on. Part of it is just trying to keep the inspiration.
Other stuff:
As if I don't have enough drama to deal with, I have Covid now too! Thankfully for me and my parents it hasn't been too serious. It just feels like a bad flu for us. It will give me some extra free time to draw for the next few days, although it will be a bit hard to focus since I'm feeling pretty cruddy too.
Anyways, I hope you all are hanging in there. This is just what's going on in my world right now.

The lack of any feedback is just killing me too! As far as I know it's been: I have too little experience, I have too much experience, I can't start "RIGHT NOW" because I have the curtesy to give my current employer two weeks notice before leaving, I'm asking for too much pay, I'm asking for too little pay, we just don't like your face, I have to have a very specific certification but to get the certification I already have to have the professional experience.
I really do wonder how society even functions. Are things seriously this broken?!
I guess in your case: Is it a certification you see appearing on a lot of different positions (more than one company asking for the same thing)? Is something you can reasonably do in an online course on your own time? Like I see 40hour HAZWOPER certifications appear a lot in my hunting. I took an online course so I could truthfully put on my resume I took a training course for that. As far as I know it has helped some with getting my foot in the door.
Thank ya, hopefully that will help. I know one thing I really need to get better about and it might be something useful for you too is to make an excel sheet to keep track of who you applied to, what you submitted, when was the last you heard from them, what sort of response if any, any notes to remember of what you can do differently after an interview, etc.
I used to when I first started, although I admit it's a pain and I've gotten burned out from that. I should start again though given I've seen so many reposts of the same openings, some people are really good about responding ASAP while others seem to take months at a time, or some calls where I forgot to make a certain point or ask a certain questions
Well, all I can say is try to hang in there!! And I shall as well.❤️
I'll try, hopefully that one "Yes" will come soon for you too!
