So the big FA update happened and everyone seems to be singing the praises of the resolution increase. The limit was 1280x1280, now it's 1920x1920. Hoo ray. Yeah that's cool n all if it wasn't a bold faced LIE. You've all been lied to you fucking suckers! What actually happened is that they fixed the glitch in which you simply click "change submission file" to reupload the image at it's correct resolution. They then forced the higher resolutions behind a subscription paywall, which to me is just a massive middle finger to everyone who's stuck with FA for so long. The site is far from perfect, but the one thing it had going for it is that it was the only site where I could post the full sizes I wanted to a gallery I could call my own. They have now "FIXED" the ONE thing I admired them for and locked it behind a paywall.

I'm sorry... has anyone looked around lately? This site is a fucking ghost town. Nobody comments. Nobody reads journals. Nobody interacts. Nobody goes to streams. We still can't delete comments. We can only cover them up with a newspaper like hiding a dog turd on the carpet. There's nothing more frustrating to me than scrolling through the comments section and seeing "comment hidden by it's owner/Page Owner" because then the only thing I can think is, "What was the comment? Was it mean? Was it nasty? Was it sad? Was it an accident?" Which completely distracts me from the submission itself which is why I clicked on it in the first place. And for fuck sake, we STILL DON'T HAVE THE ABLITY TO UPLOAD WEBM/MP4s!!!

So as I was scrolling through my gallery, it occurred to me the highest suffering of content is going to be my comics. MOST of them are posted at either 3000-4000. This is because I want them to take up the entirety of the screen and keep the text small but still legible. They're all fucked now, and I don't know what to do. As a matter of fact... I've been slowly working on a secret comic here as a side project to my comic Nightmare Inc. which was originally supposed to have the added effect of each page getting longer and longer to illustrate one of my characters falling deeper and deeper into madness. It's totally fucked now and I don't even wanna finish it. My options at this point are A: Continue to post and allow FA to compress it all to shit. B: Cut up the frames and post it at the highest resolution FA will now allow. A friend of mine assured me the limit is 1920 for a square but if you took 420 off the height and added it to the width to get 1500x2340 you should be able to post that. So what was once a simple button click is now a fucking math assignment! Or C: Bite the bullet and pay for FA+.

So here's the thing... $5 a month isn't that bad. But the way I see it is that I live in fucking CALIFORNIA. We are taxed out the ass for everything! Grocery bags cost money here! Also inflation brought everything up, but every other time that happened, so did minimum wage! Not this fuckin' time! And when you add up all of these stupid little microtransactions... suddenly all of your money is gone. So no... I'm not paying a subscription to a website that paywalled a glitch I've been using for over a decade that only updates once every 10 years. Hopefully we'll finally have mp4 support by then after we've moved on to screen holograms or whatever.

I'm very upset about this whole ordeal mainly because it feels like a personal attack. I know it isn't... but we're all self-centered most of the time. This year alone, my health insurance was taken away from me, my house was taken away from me, the move caused all my money to be taken away from me, my favorite online video game (Overwatch) was taken away from me, and now FA... the ONLY site I have left... it's not dead... but holy shit is it trying to be. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. they're all dog shit and I have never made a single friend or commission on any of them.

Bitch-fest rant over. I'm sure I'll forget about it in a week or two....
