2022 goals achieved
Hello,
First of all, happy holidays!
I didn’t expect to write something as long. So here is the short answer:
don’t expect new art to be published on this account. Spending money on art was a 2022 project.
Thank you to all the artists I commissioned ❤
Thank you to all the watcher, favorites, and comments ❤ I’m glad others appreciate the art posted on this account.
If you want the long reply, here we go:
This is my first journal, in which I will be talking about how I ended up spending money by commissioning art.
Before 2022, I was only a “consumer” / art appreciator. I have been looking at furry porn for some time, my first FA account is from 2007, and my first e621 account from 2009.
As a consumer, I was only browsing art to find what I like, and that was it. I followed artists and commissioners on FA, and looked tags I liked on e621. I saw commission openings and YCHs from artists, but never considered getting one. The same goes for a character sheet.
One day, while browsing internet, I found out about a Japanese doujinshi circle (comic series) called KTQ48. There are several editions/volumes: KTQ13, KTQ15, KTQ15/2, KTQ4 to KTQ12.
Each volume has a bunch of feral artists in them, and each artist participated by drawing a page or more.
They were then physically sold at Japanese conventions (they call it a “book fair”, or “doujinshi fair”, but I will just call it a convention).
KTQ13, KTQ15, KTQ15/2 were sold at Fur-st.
KTQ4 to KTQ12, at Kemoket (by the way, Kemoket still exists; there were two editions in 2022).
The first volume “KTQ13” was sold in 2011; the last edition “KTQ12” in 2017.
All of that to say, that I was, for some reason, determined to get my hands on all of them. However, it was complicated for someone living out of Japan, and not speaking Japanese.
In the first half of 2018, I went on a trip to Japan, with some friends. One day, on that trip, we were in Tokyo, and we had to wait an hour. We decided to go to, one of the many, second hand doujinshi (comic) shops. To make it more interesting, we made up a challenge: find the most disturbing doujinshi. We agreed to exclude any doujinshi containing characters that had a physical appearance of an underage person.
I guess you know where I’m going with this. I took out my phone, searched for the KTQ48 doujinshi's, and asked the staff if they had any. To my surprise, they did! Not one, but several volumes of them; I bought them all.
Sometime later, we compared and showed what we found. My friends, with whom I was travelling, were not furry at all, and when I showed them the KTQ48 doujinshi's, they were all like “wtf? Dogs fucking each other” 🤣 I won the challenge.
On my last day of the trip, I planned to visit many second hand doujinshi shops, and managed to get my hands on the complete circle (series): https://feral.ovh/KTQALL.jpg
Thanks to this series, I discovered a bunch of Japanese feral artists, including Daiga Tsukune, WindM, Momou and Ingi.
For the rest of 2018, the idea of commissioning them grew in my mind. And at the end of 2018, I decided to create this FA account “F3RAL”, and a twitter account to follow these Japanese artists.
However, to commission these artists, I needed a character with a reference sheet. The search of an artist I liked, and making the description of what I wanted became overwhelming, so I ended up forgetting the idea. Having never commissioned anything before, I realized that artists are not open for commissions all the time; and that not all artists accept to make a reference sheet.
At the end of 2021, the idea of commissioning artists came back to me. I took as a New Year resolution that I would spend the majority of my 2022 disposable income in commissions.
I was like “YOLO, let’s go for it. 2022 will be the year where I commission feral art porn.”
So I started looking up artists again, made a list of them with details like: do they make reference sheets? Where do they announce their commission openings? Price range …
With a list of +50 artists, I finally chose 0-ruff, which made me the lovely “Red Fox” reference sheet, that you can see as the "Featured Submission" of this account.
I then commissioned other artists, including the Japanese ones.
Is it the end?
I still have 4 commissions that are paid, and on which the artists are working on.
In addition, I’m on the wait list of an artist, and I kept the money aside and ready for that project.
So, you’ll still have those.
However, I had already decided from the start that it was a yearly thing. Maybe, if I have an idea or see an YCH I really want to commission, I could. But, don’t expect new art to be published on this account.
Overall, this was a pleasant project, and I’m happy with it.
Once again, thanks to all the artists.
And thanks to all the watcher, favorites, and comments. This account went from 0 to +400 watchers in a 11 months, this is amazing.
Have a nice one!

Knowing a little Japanese will be useful if you go to Japan; even if it's a few words.
The best second hand doujinshi shop is Mandarake. They have a few stores across Japan, and in Tokyo itself. Each shop has their own stock, as their stock is made of the doujinshi's they buy from people entering their store. So if you don't get a copy you need, at one Mandarake, you can go at an other one.
The Mandarake that I remember the most is the "one" at Nakano. The train station itself is named Nakano, and to get to Mandarake, you'll have to walk through a covered passageway full of shops and places to eat. One you arrive there, you'll find that Mandarake is in a building, that is composed a 30 different Mandarake stores that each sell their kind of items : https://www.mandarake.co.jp/dir/nkn/index-en.html (the included map on that page doesn't show the correct position. Copy the address in Google Maps, and that will be the correct position).
If you can suggest you two other places to go, that have nothing to do with doujinshi's, they would be:
Zao Fox Village (an animal park full of foxes) https://goo.gl/maps/8ZEbj8zKvPdqhdH66
"Rabbit Island" (an island full of rabbit from top to bottom) https://goo.gl/maps/AEpDBZoCABvvGGZC8
Also, I still discover new artists and am like "nice style, would have commissioned them".
But these three things stop me from continuing on commissioning are:
- Money. When I said I spent most of my disposable income on art, I meant it. I used 80% of it on art; the 20% left where for gifts, repairs, and unplanned stuff. I want to spend it like I usually do, mostly on travel. I could spend a small amount on art, from time to time, but the two following reasons stop me from doing that.
- Time. I spent way too much time on commissions. It got to a point, that I had a second phone, only for feral art. With alerts configured 24/7, to tell me if specific artists posted art (for YCH), journals, or messages on specific platforms. Going back and forth with artists took time also, English isn't my native language, and sometimes finding the right words to describe a scene was a headache. I want to move on and do other things.
- I wanted to commission artists I like. Art of my character having fun with specific characters. To add more art of feral masturbating (with the "A helping hand" series), and tied ferals. It was too fap to it. It's weird, but in the end, even if it's art that I wanted, the fact that it's my character and art that I commissioned, it became less pleasurable.
I can say I relate a lot to this, just for my works that I make myself. Even personal works. I might be in a really horny mood and get a idea I think will be very hot, but once I actually make it I can't look at it and feel very much from it, since I created it myself. All the work involved some how changes the way I can look at it as more of a product than a sexy image lol.
