My family's had a lot of different ornaments passed down from both sides of the family, but I always loved the hanging icicles, they were made of plastic with a prismatic effect inside of them but I always remembered them from the 90s. Along with that we have a lot of glass ornaments ranging from musical instruments like a cello and trumpet to peacock-like bird and the standard bells and round ornaments! There also was a passed down gingerbread ornament, though I doubt anyone would be willing to eat it I don't think we have it anymore but it was always there alongside the rest of the decorations!
We pretty much decorate the tree top to bottom, gold star on the tallest point, some wonderful lights wrapped around the tree with hanging, clipped, or nestled ornaments and a knitted base cover from my Norwegian relatives. We celebrate nearly the same every year! Come Winter Solstice we celebrate my parents wedding anniversary and by Christmas Eve we spend time together with family and family friends for dinner together, and Christmas day we reserve for just the family and time together. <3
