The 2023 year-in update
Another year is done, so here I am for the usual new years' post, just after the usual holiday break~
I'm happy to report that 2022 was a pretty good year overall for me, definitively a much needed improvement over the mental stress that 2021 was for me. I've been very productive with art, no major depressed or lazy slumps over the year, things feel like they are fully back to normal, which is a great relief.
The biggest news I can give yall right now is... after having a bit of a monetary slump at the start of the year, I've slowly bounced back to comfortable levels, enough to, recently... buy a new graphics card! That's right, after being stuck with a lil GTX 1050ti for the past 5 years, I finally managed to get myself an upgrade, a nice and shiny RTX 3060. As you may or may not know, I'm from Brazil, and in Brazil, specially nowadays, PC components are EXPENSIVE. That, plus all the price craziness that has been happening thanks to the shortage and the crypto stuff, and I was priced-out of an upgrade since 2020. However this black-friday the planets aligned, the 3060 was at it's cheapest since release, I knew it was a "now or never" moment, and took it.
And oh boy has it paid off
How much of an upgrade? Well, let's say that... basically any render I throw at the 3060, it does it in around 3 minutes. At 4K resolution. With practically any amount of detail I want. Stuff that would take around 30 minutes before, gets done in 5... with higher resolution. Smaller stuff, like comic panels, take seconds. It's quite remarkable.
Sadly for games, the improvement was somewhat minimal... just so happens that you also need a good CPU to make games run well. Ops. I've given my current PC setup the nickname "Bike with a jet engine", cuz that's definitively how it feels like, lol.
Here's where I'd say "You can expect higher resolution renders now!", and yea you can, but then, just some time ago, FurAffinity threw a wrench in that plan by locking high-resolution uploads behind a paywall. A steep paywall at that. You may not thing that 60$ a year is steep, but as I say before, I'm from Brazil, any price in USD gets multiplied by 5 here with the conversion. And honestly it's less of a "I can't afford it" problem, cuz I can, it's more of a "it's not worth that much" problem, in fact, it might even be a "that's fucking insulting" problem. I understand needing to pay the bills, but you still gotta be competitive, and NO OTHER ART WEBSITE IN THE UNIVERSE PUTS HIGH RESOLUTION IMAGE UPLOADING ON A PRICY PAYWALL. All the other improvements their subscription give are basically worthless to me atm. DeviantArt Core is cheaper, has better features, gives you lots of convenient, art-friendly storage space on sta.sh, allows for video upload and playback, and it does all that while not having upload limits.
This leaves me at a weird spot, cuz I often recommend people follow me on FA, since it didn't delete a massive chunk of my gallery for no reason like DA did, but now FA isn't gonna have the best resolution art I can offer, DA will... I'm not sure what I'll do about this in the long term... For now, I'll just wait and see.
Anyway, to close things off, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for following and enjoying my art for all these years, the support from you makes the world of difference to me <3 As usual I'll try to keep providing better and better quality smut for yall, experimenting and trying new things~
Once again, Thank you, and have a nice 2023!

Once again, Thank you, and have a nice 2023!
I’m really excited for your next art!
I did the same, getting a 3060 laptop because I wanted to do animations.
Looking forward to seeing more of your work!
And I agree with the FA+ stuff. Kind of a wild move, but there's always other places you can share the full res versions
That's quite an upgrade man, I'm really happy for ya! A shame you can't afford a good CPU to go with it, but hey, keep an eye out! You never know what you might find!
I look forward to seeing your quality work as ever, despite what FA has done with the higher res upload paywall and all.
Hope you have a nice 2023 too, and you can expect more business from me in the future!
And it shows!
A shame for FA's... you know what. -_-
Next, they'll paywall oxygen or someth-
Oh shit, is this a Illumination's The Lorax reference?
