πΈπ€A question or two about patreon
I was thinking about opening patreon about half of a year already, I even made a list of possible things I may give for each tier and bought a few patreon subscriptions to see different artists' approaches. I understood that it may be easier than I thought and you don't have to be some kind of art producing machine to run it. But I'm still unsure about how many people would like to buy this subscription and will they be satisfied with the stuff I have on my mind and would like to offer them.
The list of possible content, posted on my patreon (considering that currently I'm not full-time freelance artist but just a student at university with big passion for drawing who dreams of leaving parents' house):
- Detailed step-by-steps with explanations
As artist who was following other artists' patreons I understood that it's not enough to just show process, it gets more interesting if you explain what have you done exactly
- Speedpaints
It's hard to record all stages of my drawing process as it's rather chaotic since I'm learning and experimenting all the time. Still there are some simple drawings and drawing process parts I can record and be sure to get a beautiful speedpaint.
- PSD files
For artist following other artists it was amazing to have an opportunity to dig into their creative process and see how exactly they create "magic" in their artπ
- Bunches of sketches
I hope this is interesting part, my sketches may be rough, but I try to make them look interesting, providing different variations adding hidden meaning to them or just training and experimenting.
Which things won't be included and why:
1. Patron-only extra versions
I haven't gotten much followers, so if I'm not being active enough on all social media, I will prevent my auditory from growing by hiding a lot of content such as extra versions of artworks. Also I just enjoy looking at my FA gallery and seeing different versions of artworks. I think my watchers might like them too.
2. Regular gifts (lineart bases etc.)
I'm not being sure that I will be able to draw lineart bases every month / draw as many gifts for patrons as some artists do. But such events can possibly happen from time to time, especially if the sum of money earned monthly will be bigger than minimum price in my price-list (55$).
What is your opinion about content I would like to offer? What kind of content you would like to see from me? Would you follow me?
I'm still collecting some information and calculating my opportunities, so these questions are about future.
And yes I'm crazy meticulous person when it comes to art.

I think you got a lot of good ideas already. I especially like the step by step with explanations. These could prove very useful to me and other beginner artists that like your artworks! And besides some WIP or general stage comparisons are always fun to watch at!
Speedpaints would be cool, but I very well understand how chaotic it can be so no worries. Also, I agree some raffle/ regular gifts can be hard to maintain, even at the beginning! But I found some cool people that made special tiers for such a thing.
That would be for example a $xxxxx tier that is limited to only some slots, for example 5 or something. This would give the Supporters the possibility of getting βregularβ comms, sketches, or something else. This would be obviously on a higher price, but I at least think that these are very cool and would love to get one. But its obviously still your choice, especially since you need to maintain a stable workflow in these times, which is hard!
Another Idea I got were maybe early access to YCH or comms in general. Just 1 or two days would probably be fine!
You can also make polls through Patreon which you can experiment on. You could maybe make a list of things you would like to draw and the patreon get to choose, or something of that sort.
Maybe you can tell some facts about your Sona, her lore or just some WIP things you were planning to do.
Other than that, there are always things you could add after some time getting experience on Patreon. Nothing is really set in stone, so everything should be fine! The important part is, that you are having fun managing your accounts. These are some things that I have had in my head right now, maybe I will add a thing later If I got another idea!
The idea of early access in 1 or 2 days sounds fair to me, too. It may help me evolve my self-control I lost during war. In times like that you live every day like it's the last- the last day you have electricity xD
I'd love to hear another ideas if you get some later on! β€οΈ
