Issues

Going to complain for a moment in that I haven’t been particularly happy with my art lately, to a higher degree than my usual criticalness of it. Mostly I’m not happy in the way I make body proportions in that everything I do tends to look off and I guess amateurish, I feel like I should be better at making that type of thing in that it’s something I’ve been drawing for that amount of time. My issue might be in I don’t use references or tend to sketch much or just a minimal amount, or go immediately to lineart, but even in the way of sketching I think I should still be able to do better.and It’s not really an excuse for other people who use the same techniques either in that they also make better work, maybe of a better fundamental understanding of it.
Often the size that I do heads tends to look off too, and the length of necks, that’s probably the biggest thing actually.
I guess I am curious from an outsiders perspective how much does it look like that? Do my bodies look immediately wrong at a glance?

100% true. If you're interested, there's a few books that have helped me with my art and anxiety. Art & Fear David Bayles and Ted Orland and Make Your Art No Matter What Beth Pickens were immensely helpful to me. Steal Like an Artist by Austin Kleon was also pretty good in that it helped me with inspiration and workflow. Cheers, and best of luck to you on your artistic journey!
That "golden ratio" bullshit is always good for that, mainly because it helped me learn to do proportion using my fingers.
as the relations between the joints literally make my fingers a good ratio ruler when I know the ratios.
proportion isn't that hard, it's just math, and math is shown to be the hardest thing in the world when really it's the stupidestly simple. since it universally standardizes and thus simplifies everything else around it.
that said I like your stuff as is, it reminds me of the walten files tbh, and I always thought the rabbit in that was hot.

either way I had an idea for how to check how your art looks to others:
maybe try drawing in some else's style to see how your proportions look in their style.
if it looks the same, it's not your proportions, it's how your style of drawing effects the perception of proportion.
Try to implement something that you think would help you with anatomy while drawing, while also still drawing everything you want or need to draw and see how it goes, whether it's some specific pose or attention to a certain anatomic details, that could be one way to face the problem and see some results.
Your art is rl cool and inspires me btw,

But I understand being unsatisfied with making things. If you decide you want to go for realism, change your style or topics or anything, because that's how you see yourself improving, it's all in your hands. I hope you feel better with your art and find yourself at a good place with it soon.
