Need a lil help/advise on bug infestation
3 years ago
So my current house have some annoying tiny cockroaches infestation. It’s been there even before I moved in here (blame landlord for not giving me a tour of the house until I moved here)
I tried everything from spray bugs, traps, and even use my slippers to slap all of them. I done a deep clean, getting rid of every single trashes in cabinet….
They still roaming around. Some even got themselves inside my laptop and under my macro keyboard >:v
I just needed some tips and advice on how to get rid of them
Halp =w=

If this is a house and there are no pets or kids to worry about, you can dust the edjes of rooms with boax/boric acid. Borax is often in stores in the laundry detergent section. Just Google "cockroach borax" for instructions.
If they will not go away at this point then you need to seek the advice of a professional and you need to tell your landlord they are there IMMIDIATELY or you could be held responsibly
You should follow your landlords direction and seek knowledge about your upkeep responsibilities with renting in your country/state/whatever as I know here these sorts of things are LEGALLY a landlords responsibility here where i live (if a tenant is dutiful about helping out as best they can.) You need to find this out before proceeding with anything as a renter you do not have ownership rights (usually).
From having 3 different apartments with "roaches" Ive know from experience that at the point you are are more than likely are going to need the apartment to be sprayed or fumigated per whatever landlord/tenant legislation you may have in your area of residence. They also have some really nifty gel bates that work super well for less serious infestations that are available to pros that are really effective too. Itll depend on what the pest control companies do in your area as to what (sprays are restricted here so they have to do different stuff)
The only other thing that may help is a product called "diatomaceous earth" but it requires an N95 respirator to apply or you will seriously injure yourself from the powder as its sharp microscopically-small pieces of ground up fossil shells. (and it may not even be legal for you to have without a PCO license in your country-- IDK). You can also seal cracks in doors, windows or "external walls" and creavaces (not baseboards as I found that out)) with expanding spray foam and/or window and door caulking depending on your skill level.
This is after you kill all the current bugs though
Unless you absolutely have to though, dont touch it on your own yet. Go with a professional company on your own if your landlord doesn't or isn't legally responsible. Its much easier for them to take the lead. x.x
Its gonna cost though, big time; if you are legally on your own. x.x
(Ive also dealt with bedbugs 4 times over 3 apartments and mice and was "chased out" of my previous apt because of it.)
And I don’t know if this is landlord’s fault or his neglect since I rarely seen him other than one of his man.
But even when I mentioned about those roaches, he simply says “just keep the house clean yourself, there 7 of you guys here in the house and don’t be lazy”
And I did asked my housemates who has been staying in this house longer than me, they literally mentioned that those roaches issue were actually from older tenants.
Recently I been deep cleaning the whole kitchen with cabinets and everything. I did sprayed those bug spray all around, including the tiny gaps area. Left the house for a couple hours, and come back with plenty roaches right off the door handle
It’s seems like these pesky tiny roaches are much more harder to deal with. But yeah I might call a pest control if I have budget to hire them for a house treatment, depending on situation as well since I’m planning to move out from this house.
though it may be time to seek out a tenant advocate or legal advice on if your landlord is being neglegent if you wanna. I dont know the laws of your area nor how aggressive you wanna be with going after the landlord but you are not alone with that issue belive me.
yeah like i said from my own experience.... Spraying cans of raid only scatters them and spreads the infesrtation around to the other house people.
I again really support a whole house treatment by a pro because there isnt much else (and ive done all that general stuff too), maybe you can get the other house people to help too because they are likely facing the same problem?
But I guess if you have nothing to lose: see if you cant find some "bug dust", which is Diatomaceous earth, and a KN95 particulate mask. Just be careful about it. I did have some "control success" with it. Follow the directions on the container on how to use it.
It makes a mess though if it gets wet (like with professional chemicals) and you do have to wear a n95 mask to protect yourself while working with it.
I guess I'd recommend spraying the area with vinegar, it's not the best of smells but it cleans all the eggs and other junk the bugs leave. The smell lingers for a few weeks, you either get used to it or you spray Febreze and it goes away. Otherwise, don't leave food out, and spray your fridge.
