Fruit Ninja was great fun. Now there's so much saturation.

Field runners was a good one from back then. Little tower defense game where you set up a couple various type of gunner turrets to shoot and slow down enemies from reaching the other side of the board (or wherever the exit was)

Nah they had a good lot of things that were different. Only things really similar were the little uniforms the enemies were wearing, looking similar to soldier from TF2.

Back then, Vlambeer made a game Ridiculous Fishing. It was a fun and an actual game on the mobile, hence why you need to buy it. Reel in your bait then pull up, and then shoot at fishes with your gun for cash(and with the classic Vlambeer screen shake)
Unfortunately, another rather backhanded mobile game dev made a copyright strike against that game in order to release their own bootleg copy full of pay to win nonsense.

Reminds me of that one old candy bar phone java fishing game from handy games where you drop bombs into the water to fish and collect their carcass for points, and there's no pay to win BS in sight back then, also hi sealer

I love Vlambeer! I know it was a while ago but I'm still sad they disbanded

"Plock It" was a fun little puzzle game that I played back in the day. Still have it on my phone, despite having not touched it in years. There was also the Adult Swim games "Robot Unicorn" and "Giant Boulder of Death" that I played the shit out of. They've unfortunately been removed from app stores but I still have my old phone with them still installed.

The battle cats is a game i'd play constantly on mobile.

I ended up buying the 3DS version to keep a consistent save backup... and regretted it as soon as I found out it hadn't been getting any of the mobile updates for years

C.A.T.S. was a pretty cool game i played when i was a kid. Kitties wrecking other kitties’ battle bots :3

you can still find these kinds of game that's not full of ads up in itch io just look for platform category android cause fuck you apple. anyway bonus point on itch io is there you can find adult furry games for mobile too not that I did that myself a lie, and if you're really that depraved there's also those old symbian java games that really fun and actually rememberd a few like tornado mania and johnny crash, you just gotta run emulator on it that apple also doesnt support.

Closest thing to these mobile games of old nowadays would probly be Vampire Survivors, everything else installed on my phone is either lewd stuff or ad-free puzzle games.

I never really got into mobile gaming. Only recently have I actually installed any on my phone. Random Adventure Roguelike (1 and 2) and Theotown are like my favorite mobile games I've played, RAR is a fantastic traditional roguelikes and Theotown is like the best mobile city builder I've found yet

There was one called Cliffed XL, that was a pretty fun game where the screen would move downwards and you would have to keep falling before your character hit the top of your screen. You could play with others online and see who could last the longest

Metal Slug Defense was an enjoyable game for me back then

I've been playing Dead Space Mobile back then and managed to grab a .apk for it when it was removed from the PlayStore. I have been playing a lot of Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links and have won an award for playing their game too much on their tornaments. I'm surprised they still kept Castlevania SOTN and XCOM Enemy Within on Android. Another good Mobile port would be Vampire Survivors!

Cut the Rope is definitely one of the best free mobile games I've played. Alternatively, there was one game that was, like, $1.99, and that was Monument Valley. It's a really cool perspective-based puzzle game.

Metalstorm Online, and it’s sequel Aces. Both were her dog fighting games that used tilt sensors built into your device to rotate your plane, and you manually controlled it in combat, by the way! It was so good, then it got shut down in 2016 as it’s studio sold themselves to activision, aka King studio’s.

Funny you say this as I JUST got back into the moble game I played starting around 2012-2013. Puzzle & Dragons.

Yeah, I used to love Angry birds too, I was a huge fan. I tried playing the modern Angry Birds games and I found it disgusting how everything became pay to win, you need to pay real money to LEVEL UP your birds, because as you progress they can't even break glass because they're not strong enough, pitiful.
