You just sent me down a very interesting internet rabbit hole of platypus research. From what I’ve read, the remnants of a stomach are still there, but it produces no acid/digestive enzymes and is so shrunken it’s basically just an extension of the esophagus that moves straight into the intestines. Neat stuff!

Yet again....platypuses in general have weird anatomy so thats not a suprise
