Hello hello
Still alive.
Although, I wouldn't exactly call my life "exciting". I assume everyone else is in the same slump as I am due to the recession and pandemic basically changing everyone's life.
Basically have reverted into my old ways in high school. Playing WoW and waiting around for better days to save money and ensure finacial stability at home.
Haven't really been active in this Fandom either since 2016. As the tribalism politics of then and today have really turned me off of hanging out with people.
Maybe one of these days finances will stop being so shitty and I can go out again.
I mainly just frequent the arcade bars these days when I can as I've become a pinball enthusiast and like going around and finding machines to play on. Texas is like a playground for pinball enjoyers.
Have also since found a mate since my hiatus, some of you may have seen her with me at the last time I visited a con prior to the pandemic. So far she's stuck around for 7 years.
Have since quit my bad habbits, all except nicotine, which I'll probably be trying to kick it here soon as well. Just can't financially and physically "get krunk" like I used too. Which is probably a good thing or I'd probably be dead by now.
I do hope the rest of you are doing well as well. And gotten along in your lives, I really do miss the old days, moving on and meeting new people is something I've gotten used too though. As I've traded out friends and acquaintances all throughout my life.
Have also finally settled down into a career path. Machine operation and repair. Although it isn't something I originally aimed for, I fell into it out of necessity and it just evolved from there. Funny how being poor can spur you into a feild of work you originally didn't even think of doing. Although I wouldn't go around saying I enjoy it, it atleast gives me free time to presue hobbies and try and develope new skills as well as a steady job that I aint worrying about ever losing.
I pretty much consider myself a Jack of All Trades these days. As my schooling involved learning tech/computers and I ended up learning repair and machines out of nessesity. Kinda worked out real well considering the two have merged together in todays world. I can often predict machine failures almost to the day they do fail, as well as what part is failing and how to go about fixing it or limping it along until its properly repaired.
It deffentaily does seem like companies these days are hell bent on keeping you from fixing things, so Right to Repair is something I feel strongly about as I directly have to deal with the hurdles of today's designed to fail engineering and fixing what engineers have deliberately fucked up on purpose.
The only real downside is now everyone that knows my abilities comes running to me for all their "fix it" issues. I dont mind giving diagnostics for free, but doing labor for free isn't something I go out of my way to do. As I dont even take on mechanic jobs due to them not paying any better than just being a button-pushing operator lol.
